Cord Phelps belted a walk-off three-run homer with one out in the 11th inning and the Cleveland Indians completed a three-game sweep with a 5-2 victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.

It was the first career homer for Phelps, who was appearing in his seventh major league game. He was 2-for-20 before hitting a towering blast off Indians reliever Tim Wood (0-1). They were the first runs allowed by Wood, also in his seventh career game.

The dramatic homer made a winner out of Tony Sipp (3-0), who went two-thirds of an inning for the victory.

Carlos Santana homered and doubled and Shin-Soo Choo collected three hits to keep the Indians one game in front of Detroit atop the American League Central.

Neil Walker had two hits and an RBI for Pittsburgh, which has lost 13 consecutive interleague road games. The Pirates scored only four runs in the three-game sweep.

Pirates starter Jeff Karstens had another strong outing before a rain delay of more than an hour ended his outing after seven innings. He allowed two runs - one earned - on five hits. It was the 11th time in 12 starts he has permitted two or fewer runs.

Cleveland's Justin Masterson lasted five innings, giving up two runs on seven hits to remain winless in 10 starts since April 26. The Indians have scored 19 runs in his drought.
