DJ Peters and Leody Taveras also homered for Texas, which has won two straight following a four-game losing streak.

Alexy (1-0) allowed one hit and three walks while striking out four. Joe Barlow retired the Rockies in order in the ninth for his third save.

Texas native Trevor Story homered twice and drove in all three runs for Colorado, which fell to 17-49 on the road.

Colorado starter German Marquez (11-10) recorded two outs in the fourth inning before Peters broke a scoreless tie with a 408-foot blast to left field.

Taveras, who doubled in the third inning to snap a 0-for-31 skid, homered with two outs in the fifth to put Texas ahead 2-0.

The Rangers extended their lead with two runs in the sixth. Nathaniel Lowe doubled with one out and was thrown out at home by center fielder Sam Hilliard on Peters' single. Solak then deposited Marquez's 0-1 pitch over the right field wall.

Marquez allowed four runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out two. The right-hander has posted an 8.84 ERA over his past four starts.

Story put the Rockies on the board with a leadoff homer off Josh Sborz in the seventh, a 429-foot blast to the second deck in left field.

Colorado pulled within a run with two outs in the eighth on Story's two-run homer off Spencer Patton.

Rangers leadoff hitter Yonny Hernandez extended his hitting streak to five games, going 1-for-2 with two walks.

Alexy threw 81 pitches and became the third Texas starting pitcher in six days to make his major league debut, joining Jake Latz and Glenn Otto, with the latter also throwing five scoreless innings. C.J. Cron recorded the only hit against Alexy, a one-out double in the second.
