In a game played in freezing temperatures and snow flurries, the Colorado Rockies scored four runs in the first two innings and beat the visiting Houston Astros 6-3 at Coors Field in Denver on Wednesday afternoon.

Colorado swept the two-game series after winning 6-2 on Tuesday. The Astros have now dropped nine of their past 10 games following a 6-1 start to the season.

Wednesday's game got off to a wild start as the teams combined for six runs in the first two innings before things settled down.

Colorado opened with two in the first as Trevor Story's double scored Raimel Tapia and Ryan McMahon.

Houston answered in the top of the second when Alex Bregman led off with a walk and came home on Yuli Gurriel's homer to left.

The Rockies made it 4-2 in the bottom of the frame. Yonathan Daza led off with a home run and Garrett Hampson doubled, stole third and scored off a single from Dom Nunez.

Neither team scored again until Colorado broke the game open with two more in the sixth. Hampson singled with one out, went to second on a botched pickoff attempt and scored on Nunez's double.

Nunez made it 6-2 when he came home on a sacrifice fly by Tapia.

McMahon, Daza, Hampson and Nunez each had two hits in the game as Colorado had 11 hits.

Bregman had two of Houston's five hits. Gurriel drove in all three runs, including one on a groundout in the ninth that scored Carlos Correa.

Both starting pitchers settled in with Colorado's Austin Gomber (1-2) getting the win after going six innings and allowing two runs off two hits with six strikeouts.

Jose Urquidy (0-2) took the loss, going five innings and allowing four runs on six hits with one strikeout.

The Astros head home for a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels, which starts Thursday. Colorado will play host to the Philadelphia Phillies for a three-game set beginning on Friday.
