Preview Roundups
October 26, 2014
Colorado at Winnipeg 3:00 PM ET
After failing to surpass three goals in any of their first six contests, the Colorado Avalanche more than doubled that total in their last game. The Avalanche vie for their second win in a row when they visit the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. "As an offensive team, you need to see pucks go in to get your confidence," said Matt Duchene, who collected one goal and two assists in Colorado's 7-3 win over Vancouver on Friday.
Columbus at Los Angeles 4:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings wrap up their six-game homestand by hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. The Kings are one of the hottest teams in the league with five straight wins and can complete a sweep of the stretch versus Columbus, which is finishing a California road trip. The Blue Jackets are coming off a 4-1 loss to the red-hot Anaheim Ducks on Friday after posting a 5-4 victory over the San Jose Sharks the previous night.
Ottawa at Chicago 7:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks suffered a pair of one-goal losses on a brief road trip and look to get back in the win column when the Ottawa Senators visit Sunday. The Blackhawks lost at Nashville and St. Louis by identical 3-2 scores, recording 56 shots on goal combined after averaging more than 44 in their previous four games. Chicago, which started the season 4-0-1 before the two defeats, faces an Ottawa team with points in five straight after an overtime loss to New Jersey on Saturday.
San Jose at Anaheim 8:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks vie for their eighth straight victory when they host the San Jose Sharks in the finale of their five-game homestand Sunday. Anaheim's season-opening setback at Pittsburgh is a distant memory as the club has rattled off seven consecutive wins, including a 4-1 triumph over Columbus on Friday. Corey Perry, defenseman Sami Vatanen and captain Ryan Getzlaf each recorded a goal and an assist as the Ducks remained perfect through the first four games of their homestand.
Washington at Vancouver 9:30 PM ET
Alex Ovechkin looks to halt a personal three-game scoring drought when he and the Washington Capitals wrap up their three-game road trip by visiting the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. Ovechkin has yet to register a point on the trek after collecting five goals and an assist over his previous three contests. Washington evened its record on the road trip at 1-1-0 on Saturday with a 3-1 triumph at Calgary in which Joel Ward posted his seventh career two-goal performance.
