October 15, 2016
Winnipeg at Minnesota 7:00 PM ET
Youth, patience and process were words used commonly to describe the Winnipeg Jets entering the season, but heading into Saturday’s road contest against the Minnesota Wild, there is another adjective being applied - resiliency. The Jets take to the road riding the momentum of a stirring comeback in Thursday’s season opener versus Carolina, scoring three times in the final 15 minutes of regulation to force overtime before Mark Scheifele netted the game-winner for a 5-4 triumph.
Boston at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
Talk about living up to the hype -- and then some. Rookie Auston Matthews turned in a spellbinding debut for the ages with a record-setting four-goal performance and now the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft will look to lead his team to its first victory when the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
Montreal at Ottawa 7:00 PM ET
Al Montoya provided a healthy 30-save performance in the season opener for the Montreal Canadiens with former Hart and Vezina Trophy recipient Carey Price plagued by a severe case of the flu. Price's season debut is on hold after being placed on injured reserve, sending the 31-year-old Montoya back between the pipes on Saturday as the Canadiens visi t the Ottawa Senators.
New Jersey at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning hope to build off a productive effort on the power play when they host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. The Lightning, who came within a victory of the Stanley Cup Final last postseason despite a power play that ranked 28th in the league, capitalized on three of their six opportunities with the man advantage in Thursday’s season-opening 6-4 win over Detroit.
Detroit at Florida 7:00 PM ET
Coach Jeff Blashill wasn't shy about tinkering with his lines despite the Detroit Red Wings' season being all of one game old. After serving as a healthy scratch in the opener, speedy forward Andreas Athanasiou will join captain Henrik Zetterberg and Frans Nielsen on the top line on Saturday as the Red Wings continue their trek through the Sunshine State with a visit to the Florida Panthers.
Anaheim at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks are receiving a major test right out of the gate with a season-opening five-game road trip that began with a loss at defending Central Division champion Dallas on Thursday. The road gets no easier for the Ducks, who will clash with the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.
NY Islanders at Washington 7:00 PM ET
After losing their season opener to one heated Metropolitan Division rival, the New York Islanders and Washington Capitals have a chance to atone at the other's expense on Saturday at the Verizon Center. The Islanders swept the cross-town New York Rangers in 2015-16 before falling 5-3 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday while last season's Presidents' Trophy-winning Capitals got off on the wrong foot with a 3-2 shootout loss to reigning Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh.
San Jose at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks set a franchise record for road wins last year en route to posting the league's best mark away from home (28-10-3). After raising the Western Conference championship banner in a triumphant opener, the Sharks begin a five-game trek against Eastern Conference opponents on Saturday when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets.
NY Rangers at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers learned one important lesson in absorbing a wipeout at the hands of Pittsburgh in the first round of the playoffs last season - how much of an impact speed can make. The Rangers look to build on their impressive season-opening win when they pay a visit to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
Nashville at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks try to avoid three straight losses to start the season when they host the Nashville Predators on Saturday in the back end of a home-and-home series. The Predators edged the visiting Blackhawks 3-2 on Friday in a spirited Central Division showdown that contained plenty of animosity, including a pair of fights, and defenseman P.K. Subban scored a goal in his Nashville debut.
Philadelphia at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes begin their quest for their first postseason berth in five campaigns when they host the Philadelphia Flyers in their 2016-17 season opener Saturday. Arizona has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2011-12, when it won the first two series since the franchise relocated from Winnipeg to advance all the way to the Western Conference finals before falling to Los Angeles in five games.
Dallas at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars' dynamic duo of captain Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin look to rev up their offensive game when the team visits the Central Division-rival Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. Benn and Seguin respectively finished first and second on the club in scoring, combining for 74 goals and 88 assists while the former ranked second in the league with 89 points.
Calgary at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames seek their first win of the season Saturday as they conclude a stretch of three games in four nights when they visit the Vancouver Canucks. Things have not start off well for the Flames, who were swept of a season-opening home-and-home series by Edmonton and outscored 12-7 in the first two installments of the Battle of Alberta.
