Preview Roundups
April 09, 2014
Montreal at Chicago 7:30 PM ET
Losing just 19 of their first 79 games in regulation has only been good enough to land the Chicago Blackhawks in third place in the Central Division. They'll look to stay within reach of second when they host the surging Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. Montreal has won two in a row and is inching closer to locking up second place in the Atlantic Division.
Detroit at Pittsburgh 8:00 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings can wrap up a playoff spot for a record 23rd consecutive season when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. The Red Wings enter the matchup with the Penguins holding a one-point edge over the Columbus Blue Jackets for the top wild-card slot in the Eastern Conference.
Columbus at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
With a chance to secure the second playoff berth in franchise history, the Columbus Blue Jackets enter their game against the host Dallas Stars on Wednesday with a distinct advantage. Columbus will begin with a 1-0 lead in a contest rescheduled from March 10, when Dallas forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench because of an irregular heartbeat 6:23 into the first period.
Los Angeles at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings have dropped the first two legs of their four-game road trip as they prepare to visit the resurgent Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. Los Angeles is locked into third place in the Pacific Division and would like to build some positive momentum for what figures to be a grueling opening-round playoff series against either San Jose or Anaheim. The Kings and Flames have split four meetings this season, with the away team prevailing in each game.
San Jose at Anaheim 10:30 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks look to clinch the Pacific Division title, and set a franchise record in the process, when they host the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday. Anaheim enters with a three-point lead over San Jose, with three games remaining for each club. With a victory, the Ducks would secure their third division title - and second in a row - as well as eclipse the club mark of 110 points set in 2006-07 and matched this season.
