Preview Roundups
March 28, 2016
Winnipeg at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
Although the Philadelphia Flyers dropped the final contest of their four-game road trip (2-1-1), the team's fans can breathe a sigh of relief as captain Claude Giroux is expected to play in Monday's home game versus the Winnipeg Jets. Giroux, who is the team's leading scorer, exited Saturday's 2-1 loss to Arizona after his head hit the wall following a hit from Martin Hanzal.
Columbus at Washington 7:00 PM ET
With all but a Presidents' Trophy left on their "to-do list" for the regular season, the Washington Capitals look to ignite their sputtering offense when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday. Washington, which has already clinched the top seed in the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference, needs to record a point against Columbus to secure the franchise's first Presidents' Trophy since 2009-10.
Buffalo at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings look to rebound from what defenseman Niklas Kronwall called an “embarrassing” performance when they host the improving Buffalo Sabres on Monday. The Red Wings, who are even in points with Philadelphia for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, have allowed 19 goals in their last four games and are coming off a 7-2 home loss to Pittsburgh.
Toronto at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The injury-hampered Tampa Bay Lightning won’t be taking anything for granted when they host the league-worst Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. The Lightning dropped a 4-1 decision to the young Maple Leafs two weeks ago and could be without four key performers for the second straight contest.
Colorado at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
A dominating stretch at home has the Nashville Predators on the verge of clinching their second straight postseason appearance and ninth in franchise history. Winners of three in a row overall and sporting a 7-0-3 mark in their last 10 home games, the Predators can officially punch their ticket to the playoffs on Monday with a regulation victory over the visiting Central Division-rival Colorado Avalanche.
Anaheim at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks have had no issue going the extra mile during their road trip as they have ventured past regulation in three of the four contests on a five-game journey. Anaheim has collected five points (2-1-1) thus far on the trek heading into Monday's clash with the Pacific Division-rival Edmonton Oilers.
Calgary at Arizona 10:00 PM ET
Despite being all but officially eliminated from postseason contention, the Arizona Coyotes hope to end 2015-16 on a high note as they look to make it a perfect four-game homestand with a victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday. Arizona remains mathematically alive for a playoff spot but trails Minnesota by 10 points for the second wild card in the Western Conference with only seven games remaining.
Los Angeles at San Jose 10:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks attempt to earn a split of their six-game homestand and - more importantly - a spot in the postseason when they host the Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Kings on Monday. San Jose has squandered several opportunities to lock up a playoff berth, losing to St. Louis, Edmonton and Dallas after beginning its lengthy stretch at the SAP Center with victories over the New York Rangers and Arizona.
