Preview Roundups
February 29, 2016
Columbus at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers have been on an upward trajectory throughout February and can cap the month with their 10th victory when the surging Columbus Blue Jackets visit Madison Square Garden on Monday. The Rangers finished a 2-1-0 road trip with a hard-working 3-2 victory at Dallas on Saturday and acquired former All-Star center Eric Staal from Carolina for a prospect and two draft picks a day later.
Calgary at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers are making their playoff push and look to take advantage of three straight home games against sub-.500 teams, beginning with Monday’s meeting with the Calgary Flames. Philadelphia, which follows with matchups versus Edmonton and Columbus, has won two in a row to start a six-game homestand and is 4-1-1 in its last six after Saturday’s 4-2 win over Arizona.
Arizona at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins got All-Star center Evgeni Malkin back in the lineup last time out and look to put together a pair of wins when they host the slumping Arizona Coyotes on Monday. Malkin did not score in his return after missing 10 games with a knee injury but should give the offense a boost as the Penguins attempt to hold on to a playoff spot.
Tampa Bay at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
Ryan Callahan and captain Steven Stamkos have played major roles as the Tampa Bay Lightning continue to surge toward the top of the Atlantic Division with six wins in a row. Callahan has recorded 11 points in his last seven games and Stamkos has scored in six straight as the Lightning go for their fifth consecutive road victory Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Detroit at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Dallas Stars look to end a see-saw month on a high as they continue their quest for the top spot in the Western Conference when they attempt to salvage the finale of their three-game homestand against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday. Dallas won six of its first seven games in February but enters the final contest having lost five of its last six - including matchups against Winnipeg and the New York Rangers on the homestand.
Montreal at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks have a comfortable hold on third place in the Pacific Division but continue in their attempt to climb higher when they take a break from their cluster of contests against a division rival to host the Montreal Canadiens on Monday. San Jose halted a two-game skid Sunday at Vancouver, rallying for four goals in the third period to post a 4-1 triumph and improve to 6-2-2 in its last 10 contests.
