Preview Roundups
February 27, 2016
Arizona at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers could see one stud forward return to the lineup while another one will sit out in Saturday afternoon's home game contest the Arizona Coyotes. Captain Claude Giroux participated in practice on Friday but is expected to be a game-time decision after missing three outings with an upper-body injury.
Winnipeg at Pittsburgh 3:00 PM ET
Evgeni Malkin is expected to return to the lineup Saturday following a 3 1/2-week absence when the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Winnipeg Jets. The Penguins have split 10 games (5-4-1) without the 2012 Hart Trophy winner, who led the team in goals (23) prior to being sidelined with a lower-body injury on Feb. 2.
Florida at Columbus 3:00 PM ET
Aleksander Barkov made a major impact in his return from a concussion last time out and hopes to build off that when his Florida Panthers begin a five-game road trip against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday afternoon. The 20-year-old center scored a pair of goals in Thursday’s 3-2 victory over Arizona as the Panthers extended their point streak to four games (3-0-1).
St. Louis at Nashville 3:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators appear to be rounding into form at the right time and look to continue solidifying a spot in the postseason when the St. Louis Blues pay them a visit on Saturday afternoon. The Predators have won three straight and boast a 5-0-3 record over their last eight contests while allowing just nine goals in their past seven games.
NY Rangers at Dallas 4:00 PM ET
After knocking off one Central Division power, the New York Rangers will try to take down another when they visit the Dallas Stars on Saturday night in the finale of a three-game road trip. New York improved to 8-2-1 in the last 11 contests with a 2-1 victory at St. Louis on Thursday to maintain its hold on second place in the Metropolitan Division.
Toronto at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens haven't had much go right after a strong start this season, but they can extend their dominance against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday when the Original Six rivals meet at the Bell Centre. Montreal, which is 2-0-1 after a disastrous 8-23-1 stretch, has won all three encounters with Tornoto this season and nine in a row overall.
Detroit at Colorado 8:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche appear to be back on track after stumbling out of the All-Star break with four straight losses and should get a huge emotional lift from a raucous crowd at Coors Field on Saturday night when they host the Detroit Red Wings as part of the NHL Stadium Series. Colorado has won five of seven and holds down No. 8 spot in the Western Conference.
Ottawa at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
Time is running out on the Ottawa Senators as they complete a three-game road trip through western Canada against the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Ottawa had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 loss to Vancouver on Thursday and sits four points behind Pittsburgh for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with 20 games remaining in its bid to reach the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Buffalo at Los Angeles 11:00 PM ET
The Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Kings have grown accustomed to low-scoring games of late, building a specific fondness for 2-1 finals. Los Angeles heads into its meeting with the Buffalo Sabres in the finale of its three-game homestand Saturday having seen each of its last four contests end in that score, emerging victorious in the last three.
