Preview Roundups
February 10, 2019
St. Louis at Nashville 12:30 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues have climbed from last place in the Western Conference to a playoff position in fewer than six weeks and go after sixth straight win as they try for the back-to-back sweep of the Predators on Sunday afternoon in Nashville. The Blues scored twice in the first period and held off a rally to knock off the Predators 3-2 on Saturday at home to earn at least a point for the 11th time in their last dozen contests (9-1-2).
Detroit at Chicago 3:00 PM ET
A pair of eight-game losing streaks and a five-game slide appeared to bury the Chicago Blackhawks this season, but they have renewed life due to an improbable turnaround. The hottest team in hockey, the Blackhawks look to continue their drive for a postseason berth when they host the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday afternoon in a matchup of Original Six rivals.
Colorado at Boston 3:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins managed to battle back from adversity to snag a victory on Saturday, while the reeling Colorado Avalanche were unable to take advantage of good fortune and tumbled to another defeat. The Bruins have earned points in six consecutive games while Colorado is winless in its last six heading into Sunday afternoon's matchup in Boston.
Winnipeg at Buffalo 3:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres continue to live just outside playoff position in the Eastern Conference as they host the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. Buffalo is 2-1-1 on its season-high seven-game homestand after Saturday's 3-1 victory over Detroit while Winnipeg, which leads the Central Division by one point over Nashville, has lost three straight for the first time this season after Saturday's 5-2 setback at Ottawa.
Carolina at New Jersey 3:00 PM ET
After crashing a party and ending a lengthy hex in New York, the Carolina Hurricanes will not have to travel far as they visit the New Jersey Devils on Sunday afternoon. After ruining the Stanley Cup anniversary celebration of the New York Rangers on Friday, Carolina will look to remain perfect on the fourth stop of its five-game road trip.
Minnesota at NY Islanders 3:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild are feeling a bit better about themselves as they visit the New York Islanders on Sunday afternoon. Minnesota, which owns the top wild card spot in the Western Conference, snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory at New Jersey on Saturday as it continues to learn what life is like without captain Mikko Koivu.
Tampa Bay at Florida 6:00 PM ET
The league-leading Tampa Bay Lightning have begun the month with a five-game point streak and attempt to extend it Sunday, when they visit the Florida Panthers. Tampa Bay improved to 3-0-2 during its run as it avenged its most recent loss by posting a 5-4 home victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Toronto at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs have used a six-game point streak to gain a slim edge in the battle for second place in the Atlantic Division. They hope to extend their 5-0-1 run with a fifth straight victory when they visit the New York Rangers on Sunday.
