Preview Roundups
February 03, 2018
Anaheim at Montreal 1:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks hope to have John Gibson in goal when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday afternoon, but No. 2 Ryan Miller is prepared to play back-to-back games for the first time this season if necessary. Miller made 30 saves in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss at Ottawa after Gibson left Tuesday's 3-1 victory at Boston with a groin injury.
Ottawa at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers galloped back into contention with wins in eight of nine contests before their defense sprung a leak to throw them from the saddle during their current three-game losing skid. The Flyers look to get back on track on Saturday afternoon when they welcome the Ottawa Senators to the Wells Fargo Center.
Colorado at Winnipeg 7:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets have not experienced many losses at home this season while racing to the top of the Central Division, but they enter Saturday’s home contest against the Colorado Avalanche looking to rebound from an overtime defeat to Vegas on Thursday. The loss was just the fifth in 23 games (18-3-2) on home ice for the Jets.
Toronto at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins have lost once in regulation in the past seven weeks but still can't completely shake the team chasing them for second place in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins have collected points in 19 of their last 20 games entering Saturday's matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who arrive in Boston on a four-game winning streak.
St. Louis at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues had a three-game winning streak snapped against one of the best teams in the Atlantic Division and now will try to rebound against one of the worst. After yielding their second-highest shot total of the season in a 3-1 loss at Boston, St. Louis wraps up a two-game road trip at the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night.
Detroit at Florida 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers have showed signs of life in two road wins since the All-Star break and look to build off that when they begin a three-game homestand Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings. The Panthers knocked off the New York Islanders 4-1 on Tuesday before holding on for a 4-2 triumph at Buffalo two nights later as they sit on the edge of playoff contention in the Eastern Conference.
Pittsburgh at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
Here come the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins, who are hitting their stride as they visit the New Jersey Devils on Saturday for a key Metropolitan Division game. Pittsburgh, which didn't have a positive goal differential for the season until Tuesday's 5-2 victory over San Jose made it a plus-1, moved into second place in the Metro - four points behind Washington and one ahead of New Jersey - after Friday's 7-4 victory over the Capitals.
Columbus at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders look to get their offense in gear when they host the Metropolitan Division-rival Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. New York has produced a total of five goals in its last four games, going 1-2-1 in that span while attempting to climb into a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
NY Rangers at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators couldn't have played much better in their last outing while the New York Rangers were hard-pressed to play any worse. After going to extremes in their respective encounters, the red-hot Predators and reeling Rangers will reconvene at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday to complete their season series.
Minnesota at Dallas 8:00 PM ET
While dominant at home this season, the Minnesota Wild have been anything but on the road. They have played better in opposing rinks of late, however, and attempt to continue that trend when they visit the Dallas Stars on Saturday.
Tampa Bay at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
Matthew Peca is taking full advantage of his first stint in the NHL this season and the 24-year-old center hopes to continue an offensive surge when the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night. Peca, a 2011 seventh-round pick, owns a plus-8 rating and has won 60.6 percent of his faceoffs in five games since being recalled by the Lightning while registering two goals to go along with three assists in the last three contests.
Chicago at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames entered their bye week last month with seemingly everything in their favor, having won seven straight and knowing they would not have to leave the province of Alberta for the next six games. The good vibes have quickly dissipated for the Flames, who will try to halt a six-game skid against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.
Arizona at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings' last outing featured a performance that was every bit as bad as it was as good in their previous contest. Kings coach John Stevens hopes his team rebounds on Saturday when it opens a two-game homestand against the Pacific Division-rival Arizona Coyotes.
