Toronto at New Jersey 7:30 PM ET
The skidding Toronto Maple Leafs limped into the All-Star break having lost six in a row and 14 of their last 17 games to plummet 10 points behind in the race for a wild-card spot. To make matters worse for the Maple Leafs, they learned that captain Dion Phaneuf is considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury as the club visits the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday.
Pittsburgh at Washington 8:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals attempt to snap their four-game losing streak when they host the Metropolitan Division-rival Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. Washington entered the All-Star break on an 0-2-1 slide and was unable to halt it Tuesday as it dropped a 4-3 decision at Columbus. However, the Capitals enter their matchup against Pittsburgh with a nine-game point streak at home (7-0-2), last losing in regulation at Verizon Center on Dec. 2 versus Vancouver.
Chicago at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks resume their seven-game road trip when they face off against the struggling Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday. Chicago kicked off its trek last Wednesday by edging Pittsburgh 3-2 in a shootout as captain Jonathan Toews and fellow All-Star Patrick Kane converted in the bonus format. The road trip is the longest of the season for the Blackhawks, who went 5-1-0 on a six-game trek in November.
