Preview Roundups
January 03, 2017
Buffalo at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers have benefited from back-to-back hat tricks to keep their high-octane offense humming along during a three-game winning streak. With 20 goals posted in their last four outings, the Rangers look to continue their torrid assault on the scoreboard Tuesday when they host the Buffalo Sabres.
Toronto at Washington 7:00 PM ET
Only six NHL players have scored at least 46 goals in their rookie season and Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs can become part of that contingent if he maintains his current pace. The last player in that group to achieve that feat was Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, who will host Matthews and the surging Maple Leafs on Tuesday night.
New Jersey at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes put their 11-game home point streak on the line when they host the Metropolitan Division-rival New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Carolina has gone 10-0-1 at PNC Arena since dropping a 4-2 decision to Anaheim on Nov. 10, a streak that was extended with Friday's 3-2 triumph over Chicago.
Edmonton at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets have a chance to move within one victory of the longest winning streak in league history when they host the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Owners of the NHL's best record, Columbus made it 15 consecutive wins with a 4-2 victory at Minnesota on Saturday night that ended the Wild's 12-game winning streak.
Winnipeg at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning added another productive forward to their long list of injuries this season, but could get one back in the lineup when they host the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. Brian Boyle (lower-body), who boasts six goals in the last nine games, left Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Carolina and is doubtful while Ryan Callahan (hip) practiced Monday and may return after missing the last 15 games.
Montreal at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
Although Shea Weber competed in his 800th game in his last outing, the veteran defenseman could be playing in the most emotional contest of his NHL career on Tuesday as the Montreal Canadiens visit the Nashville Predators. A two-time Canadian Olympian and four-time NHL All-Star, Weber spent the first 11 seasons of his decorated career in Music City before being traded to Montreal for fellow blue-liner P.K. Subban on June 29.
Los Angeles at San Jose 10:00 PM ET
With the dust recently settled on a grueling nine-game trek, the Los Angeles Kings once again will pack their bags and head north along the California coast Tuesday to complete a home-and-home series with the host San Jose Sharks. Tanner Pearson collected a goal and an assist in a 3-2 victory over San Jose on Saturday to improve his point total to five (two goals, three assists) in the past five games after being limited to just two assists in his previous 12 contests.
