Preview Roundups
November 23, 2014
Cleveland at Atlanta 1:00 PM ET
Every game looms large for the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons, who are in tight division title races as they prepare to square off Sunday in Atlanta. Cleveland had a three-game winning streak snapped last week, falling 23-7 to Houston, while Atlanta won its second straight — 19-17 at Carolina — following a five-game skid. The Browns are a half-game behind Pittsburgh and Cincinnati in the AFC North, putting them in the mix for both the division title and the wild-card chase
Tennessee at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
Mark Sanchez and the Philadelphia Eagles were flying high after Sanchez's first start of the season - a dominant win over Carolina two Mondays ago. But after a humbling 53-20 loss at Green Bay last Sunday, the Eagles know that their character - and maybe their division title hopes - are on the line this Sunday when they host the Tennessee Titans. The Eagles will be looking to avoid their first two-game skid of the season while the Titans want to snap their four-game slide.
Detroit at New England 1:00 PM ET
The New England Patriots are ripping through the heart of their schedule, but things aren’t getting any easier. The Patriots will try to extend their winning streak to seven straight when they host the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Lions, who are tied with Green Bay atop the NFC North and boast the league’s best total and scoring defense, are trying to avoid a second consecutive loss as they battle through their own rough stretch.
Green Bay at Minnesota 1:00 PM ET
The Green Bay Packers can become the first NFL team to score 50 or more points in three consecutive games when they visit the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The high-flying Packers routed the Philadelphia Eagles 53-20 last Sunday and there has been chatter that Green Bay has hit its stride too early. “I don’t believe in peaking early,” quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. “I don’t even know what that means. I just know that we approach things one game at a time.”
Jacksonville at Indianapolis 1:00 PM ET
The Indianapolis Colts hope to pad their AFC South lead and earn their fifth straight win over division rival Jacksonville when they host the Jaguars on Sunday. The Colts, coming off a lopsided loss to New England on Sunday night, continued their dominance over the Jaguars with a 44-17 victory in Week 3. That was one of six straight losses to start the season for Jacksonville, which is coming out of a bye week and riding a three-game skid.
Cincinnati at Houston 1:00 PM ET
Last week's performances by Ryan Mallett and Andy Dalton have given their respective teams reason to think postseason – for at least one week anyway – when the Cincinnati Bengals visit the Houston Texans on Sunday. Mallett replaced a struggling Ryan Fitzpatrick and looked anything but a first-time starter in throwing for 211 yards and two touchdowns as Houston rolled up a season-high 424 yards in a 23-7 win at upstart Cleveland. Winning in Houston has been no easy task for the Bengals, who have
Tampa Bay at Chicago 1:00 PM ET
Lovie Smith is highly respected as an NFL coach, but neither his current nor former team has had much for which to smile this season. That said, both Smith's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears bounced back with a victory last week and they'll try to make it two wins in a row Sunday when the teams meet at Soldier Field. Smith coached Chicago for nine years, leading the team to one Super Bowl appearance, three division titles and 81 victories before joining Tampa Bay on Jan. 2.
Arizona at Seattle 4:05 PM ET
The Arizona Cardinals are off to their best start since 1948 and look to stretch their winning streak to seven games when they visit the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The Cardinals’ torrid play has given them a three-game edge in the NFC West over the Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers and they notched a road victory in the Pacific Northwest last season to end Seattle's 14-game home winning streak. Seattle has won 21 of its last 23 home games, including playoffs.
St. Louis at San Diego 4:05 PM ET
The San Diego Chargers were less than impressive in snapping a three-game losing skid while the St. Louis Rams were downright dominant in dumping Peyton Manning and Denver last weekend. The Chargers look to keep the pressure on the Broncos and Kansas City in the AFC West and vie for their eighth home win in nine outings when they host the Rams on Sunday. Philip Rivers has cooled down considerably since a blistering performance during his team's five-game winning streak.
Miami at Denver 4:25 PM ET
Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos had the inside track to the top overall seed and home-field advantage in the AFC, but a pair of losses in the last three games has them locked in a battle for first place in the West. After being held to their lowest point total since Manning joined the team in 2012, the Broncos attempt to bounce back against the visiting Miami Dolphins on Sunday. All three of Denver's losses have come away from home, including last week's stunning 22-7 setback at St. Louis.
Washington at San Francisco 4:25 PM ET
With a big Thanksgiving game looming, the San Francisco 49ers must focus on matters at hand when they host the Washington Redskins on Sunday. The 49ers, who have won five of seven but are on the outside looking in at the playoff picture, will play rival Seattle in a monstrous tilt Thursday night. San Francisco seems to be finding its trademark defensive intensity just in time, forcing five turnovers - two on interceptions by Chris Borland - in a 16-10 win over the New York Giants last week.
Dallas at N.Y. Giants 8:30 PM ET
The bye week came at a perfect time for the Dallas Cowboys, not only giving quarterback Tony Romo a chance to heal his injured back but allowing the team to reclaim a share of first place in the NFC East. Dallas will play its first true road game in six weeks when it visits the skidding New York Giants on Sunday night in the second matchup this season between the division rivals.
