Preview Roundups
December 09, 2015
Niagara at St. John's 5:00 PM ET
St. John's continues a five-game homestand and looks to improve to 5-0 at home on Wednesday, when it plays a Niagara team looking for its first road win. The Red Storm were 63-56 winners over St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday after returning home from a 1-3 stretch.
Temple at Pennsylvania 7:00 PM ET
Temple is coming off its lowest scoring output of the season, but the Owls can't expect Pennsylvania to have too much sympathy. The Quakers also set a season low for points their last time out, setting up a potentially low-scoring matchup against visiting Temple on Wednesday.
Howard at Purdue 7:00 PM ET
No. 11 Purdue features an outstanding defense and a pair of 7-footers who dominate the paint, but the Boilermakers have a budding young star in freshmen Caleb Swanigan. Coming off his second double-double of the season, the 6-foot-9, 260-pounder and his teammates seek a 13th straight win at Mackey Arena when Howard steps on the court Wednesday.
Eastern Kentucky at Kentucky 7:00 PM ET
Kentucky coach John Calipari minced no words after his Wildcats' season-opening seven-game losing streak was smothered Thursday by UCLA, telling anybody who would listen that the fifth-ranked Wildcats lacked toughness. Kentucky has stewed over that 87-77 defeat and endured several physical practices in preparation for Wednesday’s home contest against Eastern Kentucky looking to play better – and tougher.
Boston College at Providence 7:00 PM ET
It remains to be seen how many players will be available for Boston College when it tries to move on from a potential E.coli scare to a difficult matchup at No. 18 Providence on Wednesday. Reports surfaced earlier in the week that several Eagles were stricken by a gastrointestinal illness after eating at a local Chipotle, and there was uncertainty as to whether they would have enough manpower to play the game, but the squad reportedly had a full practice Tuesday.
Virginia Tech at Radford 7:00 PM ET
Virginia Tech seeks to avenge last season's 68-66 loss to crosstown rival Radford when it visits the Dedmon Center on Wednesday. The Hokies shouldn't be low on confidence entering the game after routing Arkansas Pine-Bluff 80-45 on Saturday.
IUPU - Ft. Wayne at Indiana 7:00 PM ET
Indiana has learned several lessons during an inconsistent first month of the season and the Hoosiers face another challenge when they host IPFW on Wednesday night. Indiana found its best form on the defensive end last time out in a 92-59 victory over Morehead State and must contend with the 3-point shooting Mastodons next.
Maryland - E. Shore at Michigan St 7:00 PM ET
Top-ranked Michigan State looks to win its 10th consecutive game when it hosts Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday. The Spartans are off to the best start of the Tom Izzo era since winning a school-record 12 straight games to open the 2000-01 campaign and already boast victories over No. 7 Kansas, 18th-ranked Providence and No. 19 Louisville.
Coppin St. at Kansas St. 8:00 PM ET

Kansas State has bounced back from its 80-70 loss to No. 8 North Carolina on Nov. 24 by posting back-to-back 68-66 wins. Now the Wildcats have their sights set on their seventh victory in eight games when they host Coppin State on Wednesday in Bramlage Coliseum.

Holy Cross at Kansas 8:00 PM ET

Coach Bill Self is looking for a little bit more from his big men when No. 7 Kansas hosts Holy Cross on Wednesday night. It was a little surprising to Self that his three starting guards had nearly as many defensive rebounds as six Kansas bigs in Saturday's 75-69 win against Harvard.

Nebraska at Creighton 8:00 PM ET

Nebraska coach Tim Miles tinkered with his starting lineup against Abilene Christian and while the result was a victory, it was not a dominant win against an inferior opponent and left the door open for more players to get a chance to play. They won't have to wait long and the stakes are significantly higher as the Cornhuskers hit the road to take on in-state rival Creighton on Wednesday.

Nebraska Omaha at Missouri 8:00 PM ET

Missouri looks to remain undefeated at home and put together its first three-game winning streak of the season when the Tigers host Omaha on Wednesday. The Mavericks are aiming for their second consecutive victory after a buzzer-beating 100-97 win at Montana State on Sunday.

Yale at Illinois 8:00 PM ET
Illinois' three-game homestand at the newly refurbished State Farm Center comes to an end Wednesday night when the Fighting Illini host Yale in a non-conference contest. Coach John Groce's squad is looking to build upon a fairly easy victory over visiting Western Carolina on Saturday and even its record at .500.
DePaul at Drake 8:00 PM ET
DePaul brings its three-game winning streak to Iowa for Wednesday’s game against Drake. Drake hasn’t hosted a Big East opponent since 1980, but these foes aren’t strangers after last season’s meeting, which DePaul won 80-62.
Tenn-Martin at Texas Tech 9:00 PM ET
Texas Tech will be looking to extend its winning streak to five as it plays host to UT Martin on Wednesday night. The teams have had one common foe, with the Red Raiders beating Mississippi State 74-72 in the Puerto Rico Tipoff and the Skyhawks losing 76-51 on the road to the Bulldogs.
Fresno St. at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
Arizona appears to be adjusting well to life without star center Kaleb Tarczewski, who will miss at least a month with a foot stress reaction. The 12th-ranked Wildcats head into Wednesday’s meeting against visiting Fresno State riding a wave of momentum following last Saturday's 68-63 comeback win at Gonzaga.
Dayton at Vanderbilt 9:00 PM ET
Dayton has spent the early part of its season playing a difficult non-conference stretch, but the Flyers have fared well against Power 5 competition while winning six of their first seven games. Another big test looms Wednesday when Dayton travels to No. 16 Vanderbilt, and coach Archie Miller hopes the strong early-season schedule pays off when Atlantic 10 play begins next month.
Wis.-Milwaukee at Wisconsin 9:00 PM ET
Having already lost nearly as many games as it did all of last season, Wisconsin hopes to continue piling up the wins, beginning Wednesday against visiting Milwaukee in the first of two games against in-state rivals. The Badgers, who host Marquette Saturday, rebounded from a dismal offensive performance against No. 8 Oklahoma by downing Syracuse and Temple last week and can make it wins in five of their last six games by dispatching the Panthers.
Incarnate Word at California 11:00 PM ET
California freshman Jaylen Brown has hardly been a disappointment, but it’s safe to say there’s room for improvement. The top-five recruit continues his development Wednesday as the Golden Bears host Incarnate Word, which was picked to finish sixth in the 13-team Southland Conference.
