Preview Roundups
December 21, 2016
Milwaukee at Cleveland 7:00 PM ET
The Cleveland Cavaliers were pushed to the brink in the first game of a home-and-home with Milwaukee and attempt to complete the sweep when they host the Bucks on Wednesday. Milwaukee made a late fourth-quarter push to force overtime on Tuesday but LeBron James hit a go-ahead 3-pointer in the extra session to help the Cavaliers record a 114-108 victory.
Minnesota at Atlanta 7:30 PM ET
The Atlanta Hawks can't seem to decide what kind of team they want to be on a nightly basis but can look like a contender when everything comes together. The Minnesota Timberwolves, who visit the Hawks on Wednesday, rarely look like contenders but the talent is on clear display every time they take the court.
Memphis at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Pistons are staggering with three consecutive defeats, but coach Stan Van Gundy delivered the biggest beating with his own verbal assault. The feisty coach of the Pistons will be looking for a better effort against the visiting Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday after his team absorbed a dismal 113-82 loss to Chicago two days earlier.
Washington at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
The Chicago Bulls were as low as they had been all season after a disastrous week that saw them drop three straight, culminating with a 95-69 home setback against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday. One weekend of practice and one win turned the outlook around, and the Bulls will try to build on the momentum when they host the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
Oklahoma City at New Orleans 8:00 PM ET
The two leading scorers in the NBA will share the floor on Wednesday when the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the New Orleans Pelicans. Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook leads the league with a 30.9 average while Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis is close behind at 29.6.
Sacramento at Utah 9:00 PM ET
DeMarcus Cousins ended a tumultuous few days with a remarkable 55-point performance and looks to follow that up with another big effort when his Sacramento Kings visit the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Cousins reportedly was fined by the team on Tuesday for his recent behavior with the media and responded with a season high in points during a come-from-behind 126-121 win over Portland later that night.
Houston at Phoenix 9:00 PM ET
The Houston Rockets saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end beneath a flurry of missed shots but look to start a new one when they visit the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. Houston was a horrific 6-of-38 from 3-point range in Tuesday's 102-100 loss to San Antonio - a performance that helped lead to its first defeat since Nov. 29.
Dallas at Portland 10:00 PM ET
The fading Portland Trail Blazers hope to right their ship when the similarly struggling Dallas Mavericks pay them a visit on Wednesday. The Trail Blazers have dropped three straight and seven of eight after blowing a 12-point halftime lead en route to a 126-121 loss at Sacramento on Tuesday in which they allowed 55.6 percent shooting overall and 55 points by DeMarcus Cousins.
