Preview Roundups
December 06, 2014
Philadelphia at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
Detroit and Philadelphia have combined for four victories in 38 games this season, but one of them will be victorious Saturday night when the league's bottom feeders meet for the first time this season. The 76ers snapped their 17-game losing streak to begin the season Wednesday in Minnesota but reverted back to their customary form in a 103-91 loss to Oklahoma City on Friday, falling to 0-11 at home. Beginning Saturday, the 76ers play three straight and 10 of their next 13 on the road.
Phoenix at Houston 8:00 PM ET
The Phoenix Suns were sharp and fresh in the opener of a three-game road trip and look for another strong outing when they visit the Houston Rockets on Saturday. Phoenix scored 40 first-quarter points and shot 65 percent in the first half while building a double-digit lead over Dallas on Friday in an impressive 118-106 victory. The Rockets are back at home after escaping at lowly Minnesota and recording a 114-112 overtime win on Friday for their third straight victory.
Minnesota at San Antonio 8:30 PM ET
The Timberwolves have lost four straight games and seven of their last eight following their 114-112 overtime setback to the Rockets on Friday. Minnesota has yet to beat a team with a winning record and has given up 100 or more points in all but three games this season. Things don't get any easier for the Timberwolves, who have dropped 15 of their last 16 meetings on the road against the Spurs. Minnesota also hopes to avenge a 121-92 home loss to San Antonio on Nov. 21.
Orlando at Sacramento 10:00 PM ET
The Orlando Magic are more comfortable on the road this season and they can complete a tough six-game trip 3-3 when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. The Magic won four games away from home in 2013-14 and have recorded six road victories this season after Friday's 98-93 victory at Utah. Sacramento edged Indiana 102-101 in overtime Friday to snap a four-game losing streak, but is expected to be without leading scorer DeMarcus Cousins (viral infection) for a fifth straight game.
New Orleans at L.A. Clippers 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Clippers will try to run their winning streak to seven games when they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday. Long winning streaks are nothing new to the Clippers the last two seasons, as they won a franchise-best 17 in a row in 2012-13 and 11 straight last season. Blake Griffin’s play usually factors into such winning streaks and he’s been hot lately, averaging 23.2 points in the last six games to bump his season average to 22.5.
