Preview Roundups
November 02, 2016
Toronto at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Wizards improved from the first game to the second, but the win column still eludes head coach Scott Brooks in his first season with the team. The Wizards will try to get Brooks his first victory when they host the Toronto Raptors in the home opener on Wednesday.
Philadelphia at Charlotte 7:00 PM ET
The Charlotte Hornets look to rebound after their first loss of the season when they host the winless Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night. The Hornets began the campaign with impressive road victories against Milwaukee and Miami before a disjointed defensive effort led to a 104-98 loss to Boston in their home opener Saturday despite 29 points from Kemba Walker.
Detroit at Brooklyn 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Pistons will try to follow up a perfect homestand with their first road win of the season when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. After opening the season with a setback at Toronto, the Pistons knocked off three straight at home by an average of 18 points -- capped by Tuesday's 102-89 victory over the New York Knicks.
Houston at New York 7:30 PM ET
James Harden and the Houston Rockets are midway through a tough eight-game opening stretch and continue a five-game road excursion when they face the New York Knicks on Wednesday. Houston only plays one of its first eight games at home and suffered a 128-120 road loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Tuesday’s opener of the trek.
L.A. Lakers at Atlanta 7:30 PM ET
Allowing 37 points in a miserable third quarter Monday goes against everything coach Mike Budenholzer preaches to the Atlanta Hawks, but nonetheless it is hard to find fault with the way his team has played during their first 3-0 start to a season since 2011-12. Atlanta looks to make it four in a row Wednesday night when it hosts the Los Angeles Lakers, and entered Tuesday’s action leading the NBA in points allowed per game and steals.
New Orleans at Memphis 8:00 PM ET
Standout power forward Anthony Davis is off to a scintillating start but all his production just can’t seem to get the New Orleans Pelicans any victories. Davis already has scored 35 or more points on three occasions and he will attempt to help New Orleans halt an 0-4 start when it visits the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
Chicago at Boston 8:00 PM ET
The Chicago Bulls opened the campaign with questions about how well and how quickly the pieces brought in over the summer would gel, and the answers are very well and very quickly. The Bulls will try to stay undefeated and beat the Celtics for the second time already in the young season when they visit Boston on Wednesday.
Dallas at Utah 9:00 PM ET
The Dallas Mavericks are off to a disappointing 0-3 start and look to record their first victory when they visit the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Dallas is hoping to have power forward Dirk Nowitzki back in the lineup after missing back-to-back games due to illness and Achilles’ tendon issues.
Portland at Phoenix 10:00 PM ET
The Phoenix Suns counted moral victories in losses to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors but seemed to be moving further away from their first win in a loss at the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. The Suns will try to take advantage of a team playing the second night of a back-to-back and find the win column for the first time when they host the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.
Oklahoma City at L.A. Clippers 10:30 PM ET
The departure of Kevin Durant over the summer freed up Russell Westbrook to assume complete control of the offense for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he is quickly becoming the most exciting player in the NBA. Westbrook will try to post his third straight triple-double and keep the Thunder undefeated when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.
