Preview Roundups
April 12, 2014
Sacramento at L.A. Clippers 3:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Clippers look to keep alive their slim hopes at a No. 2 seed in the Western Conference when they host the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. The Clippers' chances at moving up a spot before the playoffs began were virtually wiped away when they dropped a 107-101 decision to second-place Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Los Angeles enters this one trailing the Thunder, a likely second-round opponent, by three games with three to play.
Philadelphia at Charlotte 7:00 PM ET
The Charlotte Bobcats look to bounce back from a tough road loss when they host the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night. Charlotte dropped a 106-103 decision in Boston on Friday to fall a game behind Washington in the race for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Al Jefferson scored 32 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in the loss, which snapped the Bobcats' season-high five-game winning streak.
Milwaukee at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Wizards gained a little separation from the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday and are looking for a little more. The Wizards attempt to keep their hold on the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference when they host the NBA-worst Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. The Bucks snapped a six-game slide with a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday but are losers of 12 in a row on the road.
Miami at Atlanta 7:30 PM ET
The Miami Heat have moved atop the Eastern Conference and look to take another step toward clinching the top seed when they visit the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. Miami played a solid second half while knocking off Indiana on Friday to move a half-game ahead of the Pacers with three games remaining. Atlanta has a two-game lead over the New York Knicks for the final spot in the East and can claim a playoff berth with a victory.
Boston at Cleveland 7:30 PM ET
The Boston Celtics sat Rajon Rondo on Friday and still managed to end a nine-game losing streak. They hope to add Rondo back into the lineup when they visit Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. The Celtics have been resting Rondo on the second night of back-to-backs since his return from knee surgery but sat him on the front end Friday with a shin injury and could have him back for Saturday.
New Orleans at Houston 8:00 PM ET
The Houston Rockets badly need a victory and hope struggling New Orleans will be the perfect tonic when they host the Pelicans on Saturday. New Orleans has lost seven straight games and recently shut down All-Star power forward Anthony Davis for the rest of the season due to a back ailment. The Portland Trail Blazers are suddenly only a half-game behind Houston for the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference after the Rockets suffered consecutive losses.
Phoenix at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
A playoff berth could be on the line when the Dallas Mavericks host the Phoenix Suns on Saturday as both teams sit on the cusp of the final two playoff spots, along with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Suns missed an opportunity to improve their chances by losing Friday night to the San Antonio Spurs, who were resting veterans Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. Phoenix was without its own superstar, as Goran Dragic sat out with a sore ankle but is expected to be back against the Mavericks.
Utah at Denver 9:00 PM ET
Timofey Mozgov is coming off the best performance of his NBA career and attempts to put together another strong effort when the Denver Nuggets host the Utah Jazz on Saturday. Mozgov tied his career high with 23 points and grabbed 29 rebounds – third most in franchise history – as the Nuggets recorded a dramatic 100-99 win over the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. The only Denver players to grab more rebounds are Spencer Haywood and Dikembe Mutombo, who share the club mark of 31.
