Preview Roundups
March 04, 2013
New York at Cleveland 7:00 PM ET
The New York Knicks had a chance to make a statement on Sunday but ended up squandering a 16-point lead in a loss to the Miami Heat. Perhaps a visit to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday will help them get back on track. The Knicks became the latest team to get run over by the LeBron James-conducted train and had their three-game winning streak come to an end. The Cavaliers expect to have All-Star guard Kyrie Irving back on Monday.
Utah at Milwaukee 8:00 PM ET
The Utah Jazz hope to have big men Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap back from sprained ankles when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. Jefferson and Millsap were not needed in Friday's 96-68 rout of Charlotte, as Enes Kanter stepped in for Jefferson at center and produced career highs with 23 points and 22 rebounds. The win snapped a three-game slide and set the Jazz off on a four-game road trip clinging to seventh place in the Western Conference.
Orlando at New Orleans 8:00 PM ET
The losses keep piling up for the Orlando Magic, who attempt to snap a three-game losing skid when they visit the New Orleans Hornets on Monday. Orlando was routed 108-82 by the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday for its 31st loss in 35 games. The Magic have the second-worst record in the NBA. New Orleans also isn’t a factor in terms of the playoffs as it is tied with the Phoenix Suns for the second-worst record in the Western Conference.
Miami at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Miami Heat are attempting to break the franchise’s record for longest winning streak with their 15th straight triumph on Monday. They could not have picked a better opponent than the Minnesota Timberwolves, who host the Heat on Monday. Miami rallied from a big deficit to knock off the New York Knicks and match the franchise record with their 14th consecutive win on Sunday. The Timberwolves have dropped five straight games.
Charlotte at Portland 10:00 PM ET
The Portland Trail Blazers are competing to remain in the Western Conference playoff race and seek their third win in four games when they host the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday. Portland is in 10th place in the conference, a distant 4 1/2 games behind the eighth-place Houston Rockets. A recent seven-game skid caused the Trail Blazers to lose ground in the chase. Charlotte has lost six straight games and 14 of its last 16 contests.
Toronto at Golden State 10:30 PM ET
The Golden State Warriors just finished up their second straight losing road trip. Home, where they will be when they take on the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, has been much kinder to the Warriors. Golden State dropped the final four games of its just-completed five-game trip in spite of some incredible performances from Stephen Curry. The Raptors have dropped four in a row to fall 7 1/2 games out of the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference.
