Preview Roundups
February 10, 2015
Detroit at Charlotte 7:00 PM ET
As the injuries continue to mount, Charlotte hopes to head into the All-Star break on a good note when it hosts Detroit on Tuesday. The Hornets dropped their second straight with a 103-102 setback against Indiana on Sunday without starting forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who is expected out until after the All-Star break with a hamstring injury. Kidd-Gilchrist joins leading scorer Kemba Walker (knee) and reserve big man Bismack Biyombo (knee) among the list of key players on the sidelines.
Houston at Phoenix 8:00 PM ET
The Phoenix Suns continue to fall on the short end of close games this season and they’ll try to reverse that trend when they host the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. The Suns have lost four games this season on buzzer-beaters, including their matchup against the visiting Rockets on Jan. 23, when James Harden hit a 20-footer at the buzzer in a 113-111 victory. The Suns lost on another last-second shot Sunday by DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings, who were without Rudy Gay and Darren Collison.
Sacramento at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
DeMarcus Cousins pulled the Sacramento Kings out of a slide with his game-winning shot on Sunday but still doesn’t seem happy. Cousins and the Kings will try to make it two in a row against a stiffer front line when they visit the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. Rumors of a second coaching change and Cousins’ reluctance to accept veteran George Karl on the bench seemed to be the point of a postgame rant about “God’s plan” after Sunday’s 85-83 win over Phoenix.
Brooklyn at Memphis 8:00 PM ET
The Memphis Grizzlies look to continue their winning ways when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. The Grizzlies have won nine of their last 10 — including an impressive 94-88 victory over the red-hot Atlanta Hawks on Sunday — to open up a three-game lead over the Houston Rockets atop the Southwest Division standings. Memphis has reeled off six straight wins at home and hopes to sweep the season series with the Nets following its 103-92 triumph in the last meeting Jan. 14.
Denver at L.A. Lakers 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Lakers spent the first week-plus of February on the road as the Grammy Awards took over their arena and should be happy to return after suffering through an 0-4 trip. The Lakers will host the similarly struggling Denver Nuggets when they return Tuesday. The Nuggets are enduring the second night of a back-to-back after posting their sixth straight loss with a 124-114 home setback to Oklahoma City on Monday.
