Preview Roundups
January 02, 2017
Oklahoma City at Milwaukee 7:00 PM ET
One of the few players in the league capable of filling a boxscore like Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook is Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the two are both coming off big games. Westbrook and Antetokounmpo will square off on Monday, when the Thunder visit the Bucks.
New Orleans at Cleveland 7:00 PM ET
The New Orleans Pelicans did what they needed to do by winning the final four of a five-game homestand to pull themselves back into sight of the top eight in the Western Conference. The schedule gets much tougher on Monday, when the Pelicans begin a stretch with six of seven on the road by visiting the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
Utah at Brooklyn 7:30 PM ET
The story of George Hill's first season with the Utah Jazz is told in flashes of brilliance on the court and long injury absences. The Jazz will be without their starting point guard again when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Monday.
Orlando at New York 7:30 PM ET
The New York Knicks look to end a four-game slide as they begin a difficult January schedule, which includes 17 contests, Monday night against the visiting Orlando Magic. The Knicks allowed James Harden to score 53 points in a 129-122 loss at Houston on Saturday to complete a winless three-game road trip and fell under .500 at 16-17 for the first time since late November.
Charlotte at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
There might not be a hotter seat in the NBA right now than the one under Chicago Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg, who is overseeing a team that dropped eight of its last 11 games. Hoiberg will try to quiet the noise and get 2017 started off strong when the Bulls host the Charlotte Hornets on Monday.
Washington at Houston 8:00 PM ET
The Washington Wizards have climbed their way to .500 for the first time this season, but now must contend with the statistical marvel that is James Harden when they visit his Houston Rockets on Monday. Harden is coming off a historic effort in which he became the first player in NBA history to record at least 50 points, 15 assists and 15 rebounds in a 129-122 win over the New York Knicks on New Year's Eve.
Phoenix at L.A. Clippers 10:30 PM ET
The sliding Los Angeles Clippers hope to get star guard Chris Paul back in the lineup when they host the Phoenix Suns on Monday. Paul has missed five of the last six games with a hamstring issue, including Saturday's 114-88 loss at Oklahoma City which extended the Clippers' losing streak to six.
Denver at Golden State 10:30 PM ET
The Golden State Warriors have recovered just fine from their Christmas Day loss in Cleveland and continue a favorable stretch of home games when they host the Denver Nuggets on Monday. The Warriors returned from the one-point setback against the Cavaliers to defeat Toronto and then Dallas to begin a five-game homestand, and they are now 14-2 at home.
