Houston at Arizona 3:40 PM ET
The Houston Astros may possess the top record in the American League but they are looking to break out of a deep swoon when they visit the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday afternoon. Houston was blanked 2-0 by the Diamondbacks in the opener of a four-game, home-and-home series for its sixth setback in seven contests during its eight-game road trip and 12th in 16 overall games.
LA Angels at Washington 7:05 PM ET
A planned showdown between the two brightest stars in their respective leagues will not take place this week after Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper suffered a bone bruise while stepping on a wet base on Saturday. Mike Trout will get the stage to himself when the Los Angeles Angels visit the Nationals on Tuesday in the opener of a two-game interleague set.
NY Mets at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
Sonny Gray was the prize acquisition at the trade deadline, however the New York Yankees have yet to make the 27-year-old feel welcome by presenting him with just one single run of support in his first two appearances. Gray and the Yankees hope the third time's the charm on Tuesday as they face the New York Mets in the Bronx for the second contest of the four-game Subway Series.
Tampa Bay at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays are still anchored at the bottom of the American League East but a win Tuesday over reeling Tampa Bay will pull them into a tie with the Rays for third place in the division. Toronto has won three in a row to move within 3 1/2 games of the second wild card as it continues a four-game series against the visiting Rays.
San Francisco at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Giancarlo Stanton's potent power surge is leaving both foes and franchise records in his wake, as the National League Player of the Week shattered the Miami Marlins' season mark with his 43rd homer while going deep in a club-record fifth straight contest. Stanton looks to extend Miami's winning streak to five games on Tuesday when the Marlins vie for a series victory over the visiting San Francisco Giants.
St. Louis at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are enduring a tough stretch of schedule but are having no trouble holding their own against a series of teams fighting for playoff spots. The Red Sox will greet another such club when the St. Louis Cardinals visit on Tuesday for the opener of a two-game interleague series.
Pittsburgh at Milwaukee 7:40 PM ET
The National League Central is the tightest division in the majors, with four teams within 4 1/2 games of first place. Two of those four will square off when the third-place Milwaukee Brewers host the fourth-place Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday in the opener of a two-game series.
Detroit at Texas 8:05 PM ET
Detroit Tigers veteran Justin Verlander continues to be the subject of trade speculation, and he's only enhancing his market value with his finest stretch of the season. Verlander looks to win his fourth consecutive start when the visiting Tigers resume their three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday.
Cincinnati at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET

Coming off one of their most productive offensive performances of the season, the Chicago Cubs look to keep rolling when they host the Cincinnati Reds for the second of a four-game series Tuesday. Chicago belted three home runs among its 17 hits in a 15-5 victory to open the series, increasing its National League Central lead to 1 1/2 games over St. Louis.

Cleveland at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians have a solid lead atop the American League Central but the Minnesota Twins have a chance to chop into the deficit when they host their division rival on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game set. Minnesota has won seven of eight and sits five games behind the Indians, who enter the series riding a four-game winning streak.
Atlanta at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies got an emotional lift from Chad Bettis in the series opener and hope to continue protecting their push toward a National League wild-card spot when they host the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday in the second contest of their four-game set. Bettis made his season debut after recovering from testicular cancer that spread to his lymph nodes and scattered six hits over seven innings before Colorado scored three in the eighth to prevail 3-0.
Kansas City at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
A pair of series against last-place teams appears to be just what the Kansas City Royals needed. Kansas City aims for its fourth straight victory and to bolster its hopes for a wild-card spot when it visits the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Baltimore at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners have dropped the first five contests of their seven-game homestand and look to halt the slide when they host the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. The Mariners were pounded 11-3 by the Orioles in the opener of their three-game series and have been outscored 33-16 during the skid.
Philadelphia at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
Cory Spangenberg attempts to continue his mini-roll when the San Diego Padres host the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series. Spangenberg was 3-for-3 with a homer in San Diego's 7-4 win on Monday and is 7-for-11 with three blasts and four RBIs over his last three contests.
Chi. White Sox at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers try to keep their amazing run of success going when they host the worst team in the American League - the Chicago White Sox - for a two-game set beginning Tuesday. Los Angeles (83-34), which is on pace to win 115 games - the major league record is 116 set by the Seattle Mariners in 2001 - hasn't lost in its last 19 series (16-0-3) and is 48-9 since June 7.
