Preview Roundups
August 13, 2017
San Francisco at Washington 1:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants don't share any common off-days the rest of the season with the latter anywhere near the East Coast, so every effort had to be made to get all three games of their series in this weekend despite the weather conditions. The Nationals could come to regret that decision and won't have Bryce Harper available when they host the Giants for a day-night doubleheader on Sunday.
Pittsburgh at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates hope to have Andrew McCutchen back in the lineup when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday in the rubber match of their three-game interleague series. McCutchen (.289 batting average, 23 home runs, 71 RBIs), who leads the club in all major offensive categories, left Friday's 4-2 victory with a left knee injury and did not play in Saturday's 7-2 loss despite hitting and running before the game.
Cleveland at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians attempt to string three straight dominant pitching performances together and they have the right guy on the mound to do it Sunday for the finale of a four-game series at the Tampa Bay Rays. Corey Kluber goes after his third consecutive complete-game effort after starters Carlos Carrasco (Friday) and Mike Clevinger (Saturday) combined for 15 scoreless innings in a pair of shutouts for the Indians.
Colorado at Miami 1:10 PM ET
Giancarlo Stanton's ridiculous home run pace over the last month-plus not only has him close to carving out a place for himself in the Miami Marlins' record book, but it might also be giving them a reason to believe they can reach the .500 mark for the first time since late April. The four-time All-Star will attempt to tie Gary Sheffield's 21-year-old franchise mark of 42 homers in a season Sunday when the Marlins eye a three-game sweep of the visiting Colorado Rockies.
Minnesota at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers combined for 23 runs and 32 hits on Saturday in a back-and-forth affair that went down to the final at-bat. The Twins will try to bounce back from a crushing defeat when they visit the Tigers in the rubber match of the three-game set on Sunday.
NY Mets at Philadelphia 1:35 PM ET
The New York Mets look to bounce back from a rare loss in Philadelphia and pick up a series win when they take on the host Phillies in the finale of a four-game set Sunday afternoon. After scoring 17 runs in taking the first two games of the series, the Mets were held to three hits by Aaron Nola and three relievers in Saturday's 3-1 loss.
Cincinnati at Milwaukee 2:10 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds' major-league worst pitching staff tends to bring out the best in opposing hitters, and that has particularly been the case for Eric Thames this season. The 30-year-old slugger looks to continue tormenting the Reds on Sunday when his Milwaukee Brewers host Cincinnati in the rubber match of their three-game set.
Kansas City at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET

The Kansas City Royals’ best hope of getting back in the American League Central race might be continuing their hot play against division rivals. The Royals aim for their 10th win in their last 11 contests against AL Central foes when they face the host Chicago White Sox in the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday afternoon.

Atlanta at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals look to continue their strong play against National League East opponents when they host the Atlanta Braves on Sunday in the finale of a three-game series. The Cardinals improved to 22-9 against teams from the NL East with Saturday’s 6-5 victory, pulling into a virtual tie with the Chicago Cubs for the NL Central lead and extending their season-long winning streak to eight games.
Houston at Texas 3:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers attempt to continue their surge toward a wild-card spot and complete a three-game sweep when they host the American League West-leading Houston Astros for the series finale on Sunday. Texas has climbed within 2 1/2 games of the AL's second wild card by posting three straight wins, including Saturday's 8-3 triumph.
Baltimore at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles are right in the thick of the American League wild-card race and hope to make more progress when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Sunday for the finale of their four-game series. Baltimore rode a seven-run first inning to a 12-5 victory on Saturday, climbing within 1 1/2 games of the Los Angeles Angels for the second wild card.
LA Angels at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels have taken over sole possession of the second wild-card spot in the American League, but they’re not about to start printing playoff tickets. The surging Angels aim for their sixth consecutive victory Sunday, when they face the host Seattle Mariners in the finale of their four-game series.
San Diego at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
Los Angeles Dodgers rookie sensation Cody Bellinger looks to add to his record-setting numbers Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series against the visiting San Diego Padres. Bellinger went 3-for-3 and blasted his 34th home run in Saturday’s 6-3 victory as the Dodgers improved to 27-5 since July 4 and took a 17-game lead in the National League West.
Chi. Cubs at Arizona 4:10 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs’ trip to the West Coast hasn’t been kind, but they can salvage a split of the six-game trek with a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Chicago lost red-hot catcher Willson Contreras to a hamstring injury during a three-game series in San Francisco to begin the trip, but a win on Sunday would make the journey a relative success.

San Francisco at Washington 7:04 PM ET
The Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants don't share any common off-days the rest of the season with the latter anywhere near the East Coast, so every effort had to be made to get all three games of their series in this weekend despite the weather conditions. The Nationals could come to regret that decision and won't have Bryce Harper available when they host the Giants for a day-night doubleheader on Sunday.
Boston at NY Yankees 8:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox wasted little time bouncing back from a crushing loss and reestablishing their dominance in the American League East. The Red Sox will try to keep their momentum going and increase their lead in the East to 5 1/2 games when they visit the New York Yankees in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
