Preview Roundups
August 10, 2017
San Diego at Cincinnati 12:35 PM ET
When the lineup clicks for the Cincinnati Reds, it's hard to believe they're in last place in the National League Central. The Reds will try to show off the depth of their offense again and earn a series win when they host the San Diego Padres in the finale of a four-game series on Thursday.
Pittsburgh at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
A change in scenery was all the Detroit Tigers needed to get the bats going and get back into the win column. The Tigers will try to put together a similar performance in front of the home fans and earn a sweep of the home portion of a four-game, home-and-home interleague set when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.
Miami at Washington 7:05 PM ET
Questions surrounding what had been ailing Ryan Zimmerman of late were answered in emphatic fashion in his last game, as the 32-year-old ended a 2-for-27 slump by belting a pair of homers to highlight a four-hit, five-RBI performance in a 10-1 rout. Zimmerman, who is now the franchise's all-time RBI leader, aims to continue that momentum on Thursday as the Nationals conclude their four-game series against the visiting Miami Marlins.
NY Mets at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Coming off a woeful homestand, the New York Mets will try to maintain their recent dominance of the Philadelphia Phillies when the teams open a four-game series in the City of Brotherly Love on Thursday. The Mets have won six of their last seven contests and nine of their last 12 in Philadelphia - including a three-game sweep at Citizens Bank Park in April - and are closing in on their sixth straight season series victory.
NY Yankees at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
Sonny Gray's debut with the New York Yankees didn't take long to go off the rails, thanks in large part to three first-inning errors by his new teammates. The 27-year-old looks to get back on track Thursday as the visiting Yankees play the rubber match of their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
Cleveland at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians were unable to create any momentum to take into a critical 11-game, 11-day road trip that begins Thursday night against the slumping Tampa Bay Rays. The American League Central-leading Indians have dropped three of their last four games after suffering a 3-2 loss to Colorado in 12 innings on Wednesday afternoon and will meet four teams in the playoff hunt on their trek.
Kansas City at St. Louis 7:15 PM ET

The St. Louis Cardinals elected not to become sellers at the non-waiver trade deadline, and now they’ve surged into contention in the National League Central. The Cardinals aim for a sixth straight victory and a four-game sweep of the visiting Kansas City Royals when the I-70 Series wraps up on Thursday.

Minnesota at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers will try to salvage the finale of a four-game, home-and-home interleague series when they host the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. After falling twice in Minnesota by a combined score of 16-8, the Brewers managed five hits - all singles - in a 4-0 setback at home on Wednesday.
Houston at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
The owners of the American League's worst record vie for a sweep against the team with the best mark in the Junior Circuit on Thursday, as the Chicago White Sox wrap up their three-game series against the visiting Houston Astros. The White Sox answered a six-game skid during which they mustered 16 runs by erupting for 15 in back-to-back victories over the Astros.
LA Dodgers at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The major league-best Los Angeles Dodgers look to avoid losing their first series in more than two months when they visit the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday for the rubber match of their three-game set. Los Angeles, which became the first team to record 80 wins this season with Wednesday's 3-2 triumph, has not dropped a series since losing two of three to Washington from June 5-7 and is 45-8 in its last 53 contests.
Baltimore at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles have been showing signs of a solid burst but consecutive losses dimmed those prospects. Baltimore will look to get back on track and further its American League wild-card aspirations when it opens a four-game road series against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday.
LA Angels at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
Red-hot Seattle ace James Paxton seeks to win his eighth consecutive start when the Mariners open a four-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. Paxton has compiled a 1.59 ERA during the seven-start winning streak while solidifying himself as one of the top pitchers in the American League.
