Preview Roundups
July 26, 2015
Baltimore at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
Slugger Chris Davis will have to play a big role if the Baltimore Orioles are to get back into postseason contention and his bat is beginning to warm up. Davis looks to extend his hitting streak to nine contests when the Orioles visit the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday for the rubber match of a three-game set after he belted a grand slam in Saturday’s 5-1 victory.
Chi. White Sox at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox are not in strong contention for a playoff spot as baseball heads into the final few days before the trade deadline, but the Cleveland Indians are making them look like a World Series contender. The White Sox will try to wrap up a dominating four-game sweep when they visit the Indians in the series finale on Sunday.
LA Dodgers at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
Already on Cloud Nine after welcoming the birth of his first child, Zach Greinke looks to remain in rarefied air and extend his scoreless innings streak on Sunday afternoon when the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers conclude their four-game series against the New York Mets. Greinke, who has failed to allow a run in 43 2/3 frames, is chasing the major-league record of former Dodger Orel Hershiser (1988).
Washington at Pittsburgh 1:35 PM ET
Gerrit Cole vies for his majors-best 14th win as the host Pittsburgh Pirates look to claim three of four in their series against the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon. The 24-year-old was unsuccessful in his first attempt at extending his career high in victories, allowing just three runs on five hits in 7 1/3 innings in a 3-1 setback at Kansas City on Tuesday.
Houston at Kansas City 2:10 PM ET
Dallas Keuchel looks to secure his American League-best 13th win on Sunday afternoon as the visiting Houston Astros attempt to win the rubber match of the three-game series against the Kansas City Royals. Keuchel, who is tied with Seattle's Felix Hernandez atop the American League, is one victory shy of equaling Pittsburgh's Gerrit Cole for the most in the majors.
NY Yankees at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
Alex Rodriguez is turning back the clock and putting the New York Yankees on his shoulders. The former MVP will try to lead the Yankees to a series win when they visit the Minnesota Twins for the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
Atlanta at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman returned to action Saturday as a pinch-hitter and defensive replacement, and a mere glance at his team’s offensive production during his 30-game absence for a bruised right wrist further accentuates his importance to one of baseball’s most-challenged offenses. Atlanta aims to avoid a weekend sweep in the finale of a three-game set Sunday at the St. Louis Cardinals, and Freeman expects to start.
Philadelphia at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

After being no-hit for the first time in nearly 50 years on Saturday, the Chicago Cubs hope to generate more offense when they aim to salvage the finale of their three-game series with the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. Cole Hamels — reportedly a trade target for the Cubs — handed Chicago its first no-hit loss since Sandy Koufax tossed a perfect game in 1965, giving the MLB-worst Phillies seven wins in eight games since the All-Star break.

Texas at LA Angels 3:35 PM ET
The Texas Rangers have won four straight games and likely joined the Los Angeles Angels as buyers in advance of Friday’s trade deadline. The Rangers aim for a three-game series sweep Sunday in Anaheim against the Angels, who have lost three straight for the first time since early June.
Oakland at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET

The San Francisco Giants aim for a three-game sweep of Bay Area rival Oakland on Sunday. The surging Giants have won 10 of their last 11 games spanning the All-Star break while the Athletics have dropped three straight and four of their last five.

Toronto at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
Mark Buehrle attempts to win for the fifth time in his last six starts when the Toronto Blue Jays close a three-game series on Sunday against the host Seattle Mariners. Buehrle can join Houston's Dallas Keuchel and Seattle's Felix Hernandez as the lone American League pitchers with at least 12 victories.
Milwaukee at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
Arizona first baseman Paul Goldschmidt remains mired in a power outage but leads the National League in batting average and RBIs entering Sunday's series finale against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. The All-Star first baseman has 21 homers despite going deep once in the last 25 games and is batting .345 with 74 RBIs.
Cincinnati at Colorado 4:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies will likely be without All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado in Sunday’s series finale against the visiting Cincinnati Reds, but the news could be much worse. The Rockies star is listed as day-to-day after X-rays came back negative on his left hand, which was hit by a Johnny Cueto fastball in Saturday’s game.
Miami at San Diego 4:10 PM ET
Matt Kemp experienced a disappointing three months with his new employer but been playing like his former All-Star self in July. The San Diego right fielder reached base four times on two hits and two walks in his latest effort and looks to help the Padres to their third straight win over Miami in Sunday's finale of the four-game set.
Detroit at Boston 8:08 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are making the Detroit Tigers’ struggling starters look like potential Cy Young candidates. The Red Sox will try to put some runs together and grab their first series win of the second half when they host the Tigers in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
