Preview Roundups
July 06, 2016
Detroit at Cleveland 12:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians’ domination of the Detroit Tigers is a big reason they are running away with the American League Central. The Indians will try to run their winning streak over the Tigers to 12 straight and complete another sweep when they host the finale of the three-game series on Wednesday.
Atlanta at Philadelphia 1:05 PM ET
A recurring theme for the Atlanta Braves during their difficult 2016 season has been spurts of anemic offense, and entering the finale of a three-game series Wednesday at the Philadelphia Phillies, the struggles continue. Ranking last in the majors in runs scored, homers, RBIs and batting average, the Braves have scored just five runs on 17 hits during a three-game losing streak that has dropped their National League-worst record to 28-56.
Oakland at Minnesota 1:10 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics and host Minnesota Twins will have little rest when they conclude their three-game series with the rubber match on Wednesday afternoon. Severe weather delayed the start of Tuesday's contest until 9:50 p.m. CT, making for the latest first pitch in a game in Target Field history.
Miami at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
On a day when Major League Baseball unveiled its selections for the All-Star Game, Giancarlo Stanton provided a reminder that he carries plenty of star power. Stanton homered twice and drove in all five runs in Tuesday's 5-2 victory for Miami, which completes a three-game set at the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon.
Cincinnati at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs had seven players named to the National League All-Star team, but they haven’t performed like a star-laden team lately. The Cubs have lost 11 of their last 16, and they need a win Wednesday to avoid a home series loss to the last-place Cincinnati Reds.

Baltimore at LA Dodgers 3:10 PM ET
Corey Seager kept his streak going, but the Los Angeles Dodgers couldn't do the same as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. The shortstop looks to extend his hitting streak to 19 games and the Dodgers attempt to claim a series victory Wednesday afternoon as they host the rubber match against the Orioles.
Milwaukee at Washington 4:05 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers are sitting nine games under the .500 mark but they are making life awfully hard on the National League East-leading Washington Nationals. The visiting Brewers have won four of five against Washington in the past 12 days and go for a sweep of their three-game series Wednesday afternoon.
Kansas City at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The defending American League East champion Toronto Blue Jays have their sights set on first place once again and could eclipse the division-leading Baltimore Orioles before the All-Star break. The Blue Jays will try to post their fifth straight win and earn a sweep of the ALCS rematch when they host the Kansas City Royals in the finale of a three-game set on Wednesday.
Texas at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are sending at least six players to the All-Star Game but are having a hard time turning all of that talent into consistent wins. The Red Sox will try to ride All-Star right-hander Steven Wright to a series win when they host the Texas Rangers in the rubber match of a three-game set on Wednesday.
LA Angels at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels took out all their frustration with the bats Tuesday and hope to build off another big offensive explosion when they visit the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday for the third contest of their four-game series. C.J. Cron led the way with a pair of homers in the 13-5 victory as the Angels won for only the third time in 15 games – three days after putting up 21 runs in Boston.
NY Yankees at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Inconsistency has been the hallmark for the New York Yankees, who have put their best and worst on display while splitting a pair of games against the host Chicago White Sox. The Yankees carry momentum into Wednesday's series finale after unleashing a season-high 20 hits in Tuesday's 9-0 victory.
Seattle at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros once were 11 games below .500 and now are intermingled with Toronto and Boston near the top of the American League wild-card standings. Houston is a torrid 28-11 since bottoming out and looks to complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Seattle Mariners on Wednesday.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates look to establish their longest winning streak of the season and finish off a sweep of host St. Louis when the National League Central rivals meet Wednesday. Eric Fryer drove in three runs and five pitchers scattered six hits as the Pirates picked up a 5-2 win Saturday to run their streak to six games, matching a previous spurt accomplished in April.
San Diego at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres both are 10 or more games below .500 and nonfactors in the National League West, but each team has an All-Star first baseman. Arizona slugger Paul Goldschmidt and San Diego's Wil Myers look to follow up strong outings when the teams complete their three-game series in Arizona with the rubber match on Wednesday.
Colorado at San Francisco 10:15 PM ET
Johnny Cueto is headed to the All-Star Game for the second time in his career, and he would like to arrive in San Diego as the owner of a 10-game winning streak. The San Francisco right-hander hasn't lost since April 21 and aims to pitch the Giants past the visiting Coloado Rockies on Wednesday in the rubber match of their three-game series.
