Preview Roundups
July 03, 2016
Cleveland at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
With their franchise-record 14-game winning streak finally brought to an end, the Cleveland Indians look to wrap up a sensational road trip with another victory at Toronto on Sunday in the finale of a four-game series versus the Blue Jays. Toronto rebounded from Friday's 19-inning loss by swatting three homers in Saturday's 9-6 triumph.
Detroit at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers have put themselves squarely in the middle of the race for an American League playoff spot after matching their season high with a five-game winning streak. The Tigers look to extend their run to six in a row and complete a four-game sweep when they visit the slumping Tampa Bay Rays for the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
Chi. Cubs at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The New York Mets had no trouble tearing through the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series last October and still seem to have the upper hand in the series. The Mets will try to pull off a four-game sweep of the NL Central leaders when they host the series finale on Sunday.
LA Angels at Boston 1:35 PM ET
If the Boston Red Sox pitching staff hasn’t yet hit rock bottom, then the ground is rapidly approaching. The Red Sox will try to coax a decent effort out of another pitcher when Sean O’Sullivan is recalled to start the finale of a three-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Angels.
Kansas City at Philadelphia 1:35 PM ET
Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost was committed to keeping designated hitter Kendrys Morales in the lineup when the team played a string of games in National League parks. The move has paid off in a big way, and the Royals will likely lean on Morales' hot bat when they play the rubber match of a three-game set in Philadelphia against the Phillies on Sunday.
Cincinnati at Washington 1:35 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds have been let down by their league-worst bullpen all season but are getting exemplary work out of the relief crew this weekend. The Reds will try to get enough innings out of starter John Lamb to give the bullpen a well-deserved rest and earn a split when they visit the Washington Nationals in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday.
Chi. White Sox at Houston 2:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros will be seeking their sixth consecutive series victory when they host the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game set. Chicago rallied for a 7-6 victory Saturday to halt the Astros' four-game winning streak and hand them only their second loss in 13 contests.
Texas at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
Cole Hamels is in the midst of a dominating stretch and looks to keep the Texas Rangers from losing their first series since mid-May in Sunday's rubber match of a three-game set at the Minnesota Twins. Hamels not only has won four straight starts, but he hasn't lost away from home during the regular season in nearly 11 months.
Milwaukee at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals look to continue their success in the season series and sweep a three-game set against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. The Cardinals are 6-2 against Milwaukee in 2016 -- 19-8 since the start of last season -- after allowing the Brewers just one run in the first two contests of the series, including Saturday’s 3-0 triumph.
Pittsburgh at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates aim to complete a sweep when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Sunday for the finale of their three-game interleague series. Pittsburgh improved to 3-1 on their nine-game road trip Saturday as it overcame an early two-run deficit and pulled out a 4-2 triumph in 12 innings for its third straight triumph.
Baltimore at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles are the most potent home-run hitting team in the majors, but they have been easily outclassed in that regard during their battles with the Seattle Mariners this year. The Mariners hope to continue flexing their muscles and complete a four-game home sweep of the Orioles on Sunday as the clubs wrap up their season series.
San Francisco at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
Both the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks have proven to be rude guests to one another recently, as the visiting team had won nine straight in this series until the Diamondbacks ended the run with a comeback victory on Saturday. Arizona will attempt to become the first of the two National League West rivals to win a home series against the other on Sunday, when it hosts the division-leading Giants.
Colorado at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers attempt to complete a sweep when they host the Colorado Rockies on Sunday for the finale of their three-game series. Los Angeles hopes to continue to receive strong pitching performances as it has allowed one run in the first two games of the set and a total of two over its last three overall contests.
NY Yankees at San Diego 4:40 PM ET
The New York Yankees have provided plenty of late-game magic recently, but they've been on the wrong end of things in San Diego this weekend. The Yankees will try to salvage the finale of the three-game interleague series when the teams meet on Sunday afternoon, hours after Melvin Upton Jr.'s walk-off homer lifted the Padres to a 2-1 win.
Miami at Atlanta 8:05 PM ET
Regardless of the results of Sunday’s series finale between the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves, the contest will be an unforgettable experience as the two teams meet at Fort Bragg, N.C. for the first major-league regular-season game played on an active U.S. military base. The contest will be held at Fort Bragg Field, constructed in four months on an old golf course with a seating capacity of 12,500.
