Cleveland at Tampa Bay 12:10 PM ET
Reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber takes the mound for the Cleveland Indians as they attempt to complete a four-game sweep of the host Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday afternoon. Kluber has some difficult acts to follow as the Indians' previous three starters each retired at least the first 15 batters they faced, with Carlos Carrasco nearly tossing a no-hitter in Wednesday’s 8-1 victory.
San Francisco at Miami 12:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins have not experienced many positives this season, but Thursday's return of ace Jose Fernandez should generate some much-needed excitement in South Florida. Fernandez, the 2013 National League Rookie of the Year, completes his comeback from Tommy John surgery when the Marlins host the San Francisco Giants in the finale of their three-game series.
Pittsburgh at Detroit 1:08 PM ET
Second baseman Neil Walker needed only one game to continue his hitting prowess in July and the Pittsburgh Pirates are reaping the dividends. Walker has been instrumental in back-to-back wins for Pittsburgh, which attempts to complete a sweep of the host Detroit Tigers on Thursday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series.
Chi. Cubs at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs have had a tough time scoring runs lately, but they haven't needed many to beat the slumping New York Mets. The Cubs aim to finish a three-game sweep - and notch their third straight shutout - when they take on the host Mets in the series finale Thursday.
Milwaukee at Philadelphia 6:35 PM ET
With a season-high third straight series win already secured, the Milwaukee Brewers attempt to complete a sweep when they visit the major league-worst Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday for the finale of their four-game set. After taking two of three at home from both the New York Mets and Minnesota, the Brewers traveled to the City of Brotherly Love for a battle between the teams with the two worst records in baseball.
Texas at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles figured out the way to beat the Texas Rangers – keep Mitch Moreland in the ballpark. The Orioles will try to hold Moreland down for one more day and earn a split of a four-game series when they host the Rangers in the finale on Thursday.
Boston at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
All it took was an afternoon date with Rick Porcello to knock the Toronto Blue Jays’ bats out of their collective slump. The Blue Jays will try to keep the home runs coming when they host the Boston Red Sox in the finale of a four-game series on Thursday.
Washington at Atlanta 7:10 PM ET
Max Scherzer lost his first two starts last month, but has bounced back with a vengeance and appears bent on proving to the Washington Nationals that he's worth every penny of the $210 million contract he signed in the offseason. Scherzer looks to extend his dominating stretch when he goes for his fourth straight victory in Thursday's rubber match of a three-game series at the Atlanta Braves.
San Diego at St. Louis 7:15 PM ET
The San Diego Padres look to avoid a third straight shutout when they kick off a 10-game road trip with the opener of a four-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. San Diego has lost three contests in a row, including back-to-back scoreless efforts versus Seattle.
Minnesota at Kansas City 8:10 PM ET
Despite getting swept in a three-game series for only the second time this season, the Kansas City Royals have a chance to take command of the American League Central when they host the Minnesota Twins on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series. Kansas City, which holds a 4 1/2-game lead over the Twins atop the division, has won six of nine versus Minnesota this season.
Colorado at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks are glad to see the Los Angeles Dodgers leave town as they prepare to take on somebody their own size when they host the Colorado Rockies on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series. Arizona fell to 3-9 versus Los Angeles this season after a 4-3 loss Wednesday dropped the Diamondbacks seven games behind the first-place Dodgers in the National League West - their fifth setback in the last seven contests.
Seattle at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
When the season began, the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics were expected to battle closely atop the American League West standings. Instead, the teams head into Thursday’s series opener in Oakland looking to avoid the division cellar with the All-Star break fast approaching.
