Preview Roundups
July 01, 2015
Minnesota at Cincinnati 12:35 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins ended an otherwise difficult June with a win at Cincinnati and hope to carry the momentum into July when the teams complete a three-game series Wednesday afternoon. After posting a franchise-best 20-7 mark in May, the Twins fell flat last month with an 11-17 mark, but they managed to record an 8-5 victory over the Reds on Tuesday.
Boston at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox have matched their longest winning streak of the season and seek to extend it to four when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays in Wednesday's third contest of a four-game series. Boston, which is in the midst of its third three-game winning streak, has limited Toronto to four runs during the first two contests.
Colorado at Oakland 3:35 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies try for their first series victory on the road since May when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday in the rubber match of their three-game series involving last-place teams. Colorado snapped a 14-game road losing streak in American League ballparks and won for the first time in eight interleague games this season with a 2-1 victory Tuesday while avoiding Oakland ace Sonny Gray, who was a late scratch because of flu-like symptoms.
Seattle at San Diego 3:40 PM ET
Two teams eager to turn the page on the calendar meet Wednesday as the San Diego Padres host the Seattle Mariners in the finale of a two-game set. Seattle posted an 11-16 record in June while the Padres replaced Bud Black with interim manager Pat Murphy midway through the month and finished 12-15.
Texas at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
Mitch Moreland is single-handedly mauling Baltimore pitchers and looks to keep it going when the Texas Rangers visit the Orioles in Wednesday's third contest of the four-game set. Moreland hit two homers in each of the first two games of the series and has seven RBIs while Texas has socked eight homers en route to winning the first two games.
NY Yankees at LA Angels 7:05 PM ET
Any reported turmoil in the Los Angeles Angels’ clubhouse hasn’t affected the team on the field, where they’ve won four straight to move four games above .500. The Angels enter Wednesday aiming for a three-game sweep of the visiting New York Yankees, who have dropped three in a row.
Milwaukee at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers certainly have made themselves at home at Citizens Bank Park, much to the chagrin of the floundering Philadelphia Phillies. Winners of three in a row overall, the Brewers vie for their sixth consecutive victory and eighth in nine outings in Philadelphia when the clubs play the third contest of their four-game series on Wednesday.
Pittsburgh at Detroit 7:08 PM ET
A.J. Burnett has pitched at least six innings in 12 of his 15 starts this season and the Pittsburgh Pirates will be banking on another lengthy outing from the veteran right-hander on Wednesday in the second of their three-game series at the Detroit Tigers. The Pirates were forced to use six relievers in Tuesday's 14-inning victory - only their fourth win in 10 games.
Cleveland at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays will attempt to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat when they continue their four-game series against the visiting Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night. The Rays were limited to a season-low two hits in Tuesday's 6-2 setback, which marked the third time in six games that an opposing pitcher was perfect against them through five innings.
Washington at Atlanta 7:10 PM ET
The Washington Nationals are perched atop the National League East and one of the biggest reasons is their total domination of division rival Atlanta. Winners of nine of their last 10, the surging Nationals go for their 10th consecutive victory over the host Braves this season in the second of a three-game series Wednesday night.
Chi. Cubs at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET

The magician employed by Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon might not have been necessary, because the Cubs seem to have plenty of magic when they face the New York Mets. Chicago will aim for its eighth straight win over the Mets dating to last season when the struggling offensive teams continue a three-game series Wednesday at Citi Field.

San Francisco at Miami 7:10 PM ET
After making history in the series opener, Dee Gordon looks to extend his hitting streak to 12 games when the Miami Marlins continue their three-game set against the visiting San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. The speedy Gordon is 17-for-49 (.347) during his stellar run, highlighted by recording the first inside-the-park homer at Marlins Park in his team's 5-3 triumph on Tuesday.
Kansas City at Houston 8:10 PM ET
Edinson Volquez looks to maintain his perfect record against Houston when he starts Wednesday's series finale between the Kansas City Royals and the host Astros. Volquez is 6-0 with a 2.09 ERA in eight career outings against Houston and enters this start as one of the hottest pitchers in the American League.
Chi. White Sox at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
Although the Chicago White Sox own the American League's worst road record, they had no issue ending the St. Louis Cardinals' bid for a 10-game home winning streak. After posting a 2-1 triumph in 11 innings in the opener, the White Sox vie for a two-game sweep against the majors-leading Cardinals when the teams complete their interleague series on Wednesday.
LA Dodgers at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal proved once again to be a thorn in the side of the Arizona Diamondbacks. After a four-RBI outburst in the second of a three-game set between the National League West rivals Tuesday, the first-year catcher of the Dodgers aims to go deep for the third time in as many contests when the division leaders face the host Diamondbacks in the rubber match Wednesday.
