Preview Roundups
June 21, 2015
Detroit at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees went through a bit of a lull with a stretch of five losses in six games but have turned things around since returning home on Wednesday. The Yankees will try to push their winning streak to five contests and complete a three-game sweep when they host the Detroit Tigers in the series finale on Sunday.
Baltimore at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
After thwarting Toronto's bid to tie a franchise record for consecutive home victories, the Baltimore Orioles go for a fifth consecutive series win when they face the Blue Jays on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set. Baltimore snapped Toronto's nine-game winning streak at Rogers Centre by scoring three times in the ninth inning en route to a 5-3 victory on Saturday.
Tampa Bay at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays are 10 games over .500 for the first time this season and sit atop the American League East. The Rays will go for their ninth win in 10 contests and a three-game sweep when they visit the Cleveland Indians for the series finale on Sunday.
Miami at Cincinnati 1:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins wrap up their five-game road trip Sunday, when they visit the Cincinnati Reds for the rubber match of their three-game series. After dropping a pair of contests to the Yankees in New York, Miami was blanked 5-0 in its opener versus Cincinnati before returning the favor on Saturday.
St. Louis at Philadelphia 1:35 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals look to complete a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies when the teams with the best and worst records in the major leagues square off in the finale of their three-game series at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday. St. Louis, which leads the majors with a 45-23 record, has rediscovered its offense against Philadelphia, scoring in double digits in each of the first two games of the series after totaling eight in its previous four contests.
Pittsburgh at Washington 1:35 PM ET
While admittedly not perfect, Bryce Harper wasn't too far removed as he homered and drove in a pair of runs in his return from a strained left hamstring. Harper, who was only upstaged by Max Scherzer's quest for perfection and eventual first career no-hitter, looks to continue his torrid run as the Washington Nationals attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon.
Boston at Kansas City 2:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals are 22-12 at home but have not won a series of at least three games in their own ballpark since May 22-24. The Royals will attempt to correct that blip on their resume when they host the Boston Red Sox in the rubber match of their three-game series on Sunday.
Texas at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
Struggling to score runs, the Chicago White Sox benefited from an unexpected gift from Elvis Andrus to snap a season-high eight-game losing skid. The unconventional offense notwithstanding, the White Sox look to start a streak in the positive direction when they wrap up their three-game series against the visiting Texas Rangers on Sunday.
Chi. Cubs at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs have not won or lost more than two straight games in more than a month and that trend has continued during their latest foray into interleague play. Chicago looks to move to .500 on the season against American League opponents when it visits the Minnesota Twins in Sunday's finale of a three-game series.
LA Angels at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
Stephen Vogt looks to complete a stellar weekend when his Oakland Athletics and visiting Los Angeles Angels square off in the rubber match of their three-game series on Sunday. After recording a homer and three RBIs in a 12-7 setback on Friday, Vogt had an RBI double among his three hits the following day in Oakland's 4-1 triumph.
Houston at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners hired franchise icon Edgar Martinez as batting coach and the first results were a big hit. The Mariners used three homers while recording a 6-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday and look to sweep the three-game series Sunday.
San Diego at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
The San Diego Padres haven't recorded back-to-back victories since the first week of June and take another stab at doing so when they visit the Arizona Diamondbacks in Sunday's finale of a three-game set. San Diego won for only the second time in seven games when it rolled to an 8-1 thumping of the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Milwaukee at Colorado 4:10 PM ET
A pair of last-place clubs enduring nightmarish campaigns will square off in the rubber match of a three-game set when the Colorado Rockies host the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. The Rockies evened the series and halted a five-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory Saturday, only their second win in the past 11 contests.
NY Mets at Atlanta 5:05 PM ET
Matt Harvey and Julio Teheran are two of the best young arms in the pitching-rich National League East, but as the Atlanta Braves host the New York Mets in Sunday’s finale of a three-game series, each hurler takes the mound looking for consistency. New York’s Harvey has allowed seven runs twice in his past five starts, while Teheran is winless in his past five outings.
San Francisco at LA Dodgers 8:08 PM ET
The visiting San Francisco Giants can continue their dominance over the Los Angeles Dodgers and take over first place in the NL West on Sunday as they aim for a sweep of the three-game series. The Giants have won five straight and nine of 11 meetings against the Dodgers this season to move one-half game behind Los Angeles, which has dropped five of six overall.
