Preview Roundups
June 16, 2015
Minnesota at St. Louis 1:45 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals have been a juggernaut at home, the biggest reason why they own the best record in the majors and a six-game lead atop the National League Central. The Cardinals take aim at their fifth consecutive victory overall and sixth in a row at Busch Stadium when they face the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday in the second contest of a four-game, home-and-home interleague series.
Colorado at Houston 2:10 PM ET
Following a dismal road trip, the Houston Astros once again have righted the ship at home. The Astros look to end their latest homestand in winning fashion when they cap a quick two-game set with the Colorado Rockies before the interleague encounter heads to Denver for two more contests.
Oakland at San Diego 3:40 PM ET
The underachieving San Diego Padres fired manager Bud Black before Monday’s series opener against the visiting Oakland Athletics, but the team's malaise continued into the evening. The Padres’ 9-1 loss dropped them six games back of the National League West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers heading into Tuesday’s contest against Oakland, which has won four of its last six.
Seattle at San Francisco 3:45 PM ET
Riveting moments have been hard to come by lately for the Seattle Mariners, who haven’t played in a contest decided by four runs or fewer since beginning an eight-game trek away from home early last week. The Mariners eye their second consecutive winning road trip Tuesday when they end it in the second of a four-game, home-and-home set against the reeling San Francisco Giants.
Atlanta at Boston 4:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox held a team meeting before Monday’s series opener but are still trying to figure out how to turn their good intentions into wins. The Red Sox will try to snap a seven-game slide when they host the Atlanta Braves in the last home contest in the four-game, home-and-home series on Tuesday.
Philadelphia at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The resurgent Baltimore Orioles have a chance to move two games above .500 for the first time since April 19 when they continue their home-and-home interleague series against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. Baltimore has won seven of eight and nine of its last 11 after easing to a 4-0 victory in the series opener.
Chi. White Sox at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
Stellar pitching has fueled the turnaround for the Pittsburgh Pirates, who vie for their sixth consecutive victory when they host the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday in the second contest of a four-game, home-and-home series. The surging Pirates put up five first-inning runs Monday en route to an 11-0 romp to improve to 18-5 over their last 23 games.
Cincinnati at Detroit 7:08 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers look to continue riding the hot bat of Miguel Cabrera when they host the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday in the second contest of a four-game, home-and-home interleague series that will shift to Ohio for the next two. Cabrera remained on fire in Monday's opener, going 2-for-4 with a two-run double in Detroit's 6-0 victory.
NY Yankees at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Both the Miami Marlins and the New York Yankees will have some familiarity with the opposing starting pitcher when the teams close out the Miami half of a four-game, home-and-home set on Tuesday. Former Marlins right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is scheduled to go for the Yankees while David Phelps starts for Miami against his former team.
Washington at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The American League East-leading Tampa Bay Rays look to extend their winning streak to five when they host the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night. The Rays pounded out 11 hits to seize first place with a 6-1 victory over Washington on Monday and stand 5-2 with one game left on their homestand -- 12-4 in the past 16 overall.
Toronto at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays just missed out on a franchise-record winning streak and will try to begin another when they wrap up the road portion of a four-game, home-and-home series at the New York Mets on Tuesday. The Blue Jays won 11 in a row before falling in 11 innings in Monday’s series opener.
Cleveland at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET

The Cleveland Indians' first trip to Wrigley Field since 2009 will turn into a one-night stand. The Indians will take on the host Chicago Cubs on Tuesday in what was supposed to be the second of a four-game, home-and-home set before the scheduled series opener was washed out Monday and rescheduled for a common off day Aug. 24.

LA Dodgers at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers attempt to make it four wins in five contests when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second contest of a home-and-home, four-game interleague series on Tuesday. Texas posted a 4-1 victory in Monday's opener as Rougned Odor returned from Triple-A Round Rock to go 3-for-3, capping a four-run sixth inning with a two-run single.
Kansas City at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals look to build off an offensive breakout when they wrap up a two-game series at the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday before the home-and-home interleague set moves to Missouri. The Royals averaged 2.3 runs during a 5-7 stretch before they broke out for 13 hits in an 8-5 triumph in Monday's opener.
Arizona at LA Angels 10:05 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ starting rotation, after struggled mightily over the season’s first two months, has suddenly become the team’s strength during its four-game winning streak. Jeremy Hellickson looks to continue the run Tuesday against the host Los Angeles Angels, who are back at .500 for the 14th time this season following two straight losses.
