Preview Roundups
May 17, 2015
Atlanta at Miami 1:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins welcome back All-Star Henderson Alvarez to the starting rotation, and not a moment too soon. The Marlins look to avoid being swept at home by the Atlanta Braves for the second time this season on Sunday, and Alvarez takes the ball one day after starter Mat Latos exited Saturday’s 5-3 defeat after being hit on the shin with a line drive.
San Francisco at Cincinnati 1:10 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants may petition to have some of their home games moved to Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park after setting a season high for runs scored on consecutive nights. The Giants followed up Friday's 10-2 drubbing with an 11-2 mauling of the Reds 24 hours later and look to make it three straight wins in Sunday's finale of the four-game series.
Milwaukee at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers have traded lopsided victories in the first two games of their series. One team will try to turn the trick again when the Brewers visit the Mets for the rubber match of the three-game series on Sunday.
LA Angels at Baltimore 1:35 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels shifted their lineup around in an effort to generate more offense and for one night, at least, it worked. The Angels will try to carry that momentum into a series sweep when they visit the Baltimore Orioles in the finale of a three-game series on Sunday.
Arizona at Philadelphia 1:35 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies look to complete their first series sweep of the season when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks in the finale of their three-game set on Sunday. Philadelphia extended its season-best winning streak to four games Saturday, topping Arizona 7-5 after posting a 4-3 triumph in Friday's series opener.
Toronto at Houston 2:10 PM ET
Collin McHugh looks to bounce back from his first defeat in 17 starts as the Houston Astros attempts to complete a four-game sweep of the visiting Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The Astros have won four in a row to push their record to an American League-leading 24-13, which matches the best 37-game start in franchise history.
NY Yankees at Kansas City 2:10 PM ET
The New York Yankees finally got a strong start from CC Sabathia on Saturday, but it was the offense coming through that could propel the team forward. The Yankees will try to take the battle of division leaders when they visit the Kansas City Royals in the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday.
Tampa Bay at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins rebounded nicely from a 1-6 start by winning 20 of their last 30 contests and will try to complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. The Twins look to continue their dominance at home after Eduardo Escobar went 4-for-4 with an RBI in a 6-4 triumph Saturday for their ninth victory in the past 10 games at Target Field.
Pittsburgh at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs are riding their longest winning streak in nearly four years as they aim for a three-game sweep of the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. The Cubs have won six straight for the first time since a seven-game streak from July 31-Aug. 6, 2011, and are trying to sweep back-to-back series for the first time since September 2010.

Cleveland at Texas 3:05 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians haven’t been able to sustain success for any length of time this season, except when it comes to facing teams from the Lone Star State. After winning consecutive games for only the second time in 2015, the visiting Indians attempt to complete a three-game sweep for the first time this campaign when they wrap up their series with the Texas Rangers on Sunday.
Chi. White Sox at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox attempt to complete a sweep of their three-game series against the host Oakland Athletics when the clubs meet in the finale Sunday. After capturing the final two contests of a three-game set at Milwaukee, Chicago won the first two games of this series to improve to 4-1 on its six-game road trip.
Boston at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are beginning to resemble the team that many picked to win the American League East as they finish their season-long 10-game road trip with a contest against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. Boston began May by losing seven of its first eight games - all to AL East rivals - but has won five of its last seven, including a 4-2 victory Saturday to improve to 5-4 on its trek and remain 3 1/2 games behind the first-place New York Yankees in the division.
Colorado at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies have already ended an 11-game losing streak and avoided a series loss at a venue where few teams have enjoyed any level of success. The Rockies on Sunday attempt to become the first team to win a series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers this season when the National League West rivals conclude a four-game set.
Washington at San Diego 4:10 PM ET
San Diego native Stephen Strasburg makes his second career start at Petco Park on Sunday as the Washington Nationals face the Padres in the finale of their four-game series. Strasburg is looking to bounce back from the worst outing of his career on Tuesday, when he surrendered eight runs (seven earned) over 3 1/3 innings in a 14-6 loss to Arizona.
Detroit at St. Louis 8:05 PM ET

Miguel Cabrera aims to homer for a career high-tying fourth straight game as the visiting Detroit Tigers try to complete a three-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. The Tigers have won four straight against National League opponents and are 21-10 all-time against the Cardinals, who are trying to avoid a season-high third consecutive loss.
