Preview Roundups
April 25, 2015
Cleveland at Detroit 1:08 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers look to snap their longest losing skid of the season when they host the Cleveland Indians in the second of a three-game set on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers dropped three consecutive games to the New York Yankees before getting crushed 13-1 by the Indians in the series opener at Comerica Park.
Chi. Cubs at Cincinnati 1:10 PM ET
A pair of right-handers look to keep alive their dominant starts when the Chicago Cubs send Jake Arrieta against surging rookie Anthony DeSclafani in the continuation of a three-game series Saturday in Cincinnati. Arrieta is building off the success of his breakout 2014 campaign while DeSclafani enters with a scoreless streak of 15 innings, which includes seven dominant frames in a win over Arrieta and the Cubs on April 14.
Kansas City at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals were unable to resolve anything Friday night due to a disruption from Mother Nature. After they complete a suspended game Saturday afternoon, the teams will take the field for the third of their four-game set in Chicago.
Houston at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
The Houston Astros vie for their third consecutive series win when they visit the Oakland Athletics for the second contest of their three-game set on Saturday. After taking two of three against both the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle, Houston opened its second series versus Oakland in two weeks with an 11-inning triumph on Friday.
NY Mets at NY Yankees 4:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees finally cooled off the red-hot New York Mets and will go for their fifth consecutive victory in the middle game of the Subway Series on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees improved to 7-1 in their last eight games with a 6-1 rout in Friday's series opener, snapping the Mets' franchise record-tying winning streak at 11 games.
Washington at Miami 4:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins dug themselves an early-season hole through 14 games with a number of poor efforts from their pitching staff, but have managed to keep the opposition in check during their three-game winning streak. The Marlins attempt to crawl out of a tie for last place in the National League East on Saturday when they continue their three-game home set against the Washington Nationals.
Toronto at Tampa Bay 6:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays are beginning to reduce the names on their bloated disabled list and look to win their fourth straight when they host the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. James Loney (oblique) returned to belt a two-run homer and Drew Smyly (shoulder) pitched 4 2/3 strong innings in his season debut as the Rays pounded Toronto 12-3 in the first of a three-game series Friday.
Boston at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles are losers of five straight games and the pitching staff is shouldering much of the blame. The Orioles will look for a better effort from their staff when they host the Boston Red Sox in the second of a three-game series on Saturday.
Atlanta at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Expectations were low for the Atlanta Braves after a flurry of offseason moves, and being upbeat entering Saturday’s contest at the Philadelphia Phillies will not be easy. The Braves’ losing streak reached four in Friday’s frustrating 1-0 loss, during which Atlanta mustered just two hits saw the winning run score on Freddie Freeman’s error – the Braves’ fourth miscue of the evening.
St. Louis at Milwaukee 7:10 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals are quickly staking claim to one of the major leagues' top pitching staffs. One of the key reasons behind their hot start will be on the mound Saturday when Adam Wainwright faces the Brewers in the continuation of a three-game set in Milwaukee.
St. Louis at Milwaukee 7:10 PM ET
Lance Lynn is enjoying another terrific April and has a chance to conclude his month in style Sunday when the St. Louis Cardinals wrap up their road series with the Milwaukee Brewers. Lynn is 13-2 with a 2.58 ERA in his career in March and April and has a 1.56 ERA after three starts this season.
Pittsburgh at Arizona 8:10 PM ET
With two hits in each of his last two games, Josh Harrison is doing his best to put his pronounced slump in the rear-view mirror. After ripping a two-run double to highlight Pittsburgh's 4-1 victory over Arizona in the series opener, Harrison looks to continue his recent hot streak when the Pirates face the host Diamondbacks on Saturday.
San Francisco at Colorado 8:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies look to continue their recent dominance against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday when the teams continue their three-game series in Denver. The Rockies have won all four meetings against the Giants this season, including Friday’s 6-4 series-opening victory.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 8:40 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers likely will be without right fielder Yasiel Puig on Saturday when they continue a three-game series against the host San Diego Padres, who have lost three in a row. Puig re-aggravated his strained left hamstring in the sixth inning of Friday’s 2-0 series-opening victory and was replaced by Andre Ethier.
Texas at LA Angels 9:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels attempt to clinch their second series win of the season against the visiting Texas Rangers when the American League West rivals meet in the middle contest of their three-game set on Saturday. Los Angeles took two of three in Texas last week before posting a 3-2 triumph at home on Friday in the series opener for its third victory in four overall games.
Minnesota at Seattle 9:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners are looking to solidify a winning homestand while handing the Minnesota Twins yet another loss on the road when the clubs meet at Safeco Field on Saturday. Nelson Cruz belted his major league-best ninth homer in the second inning to provide all the offense needed for Felix Hernandez, who went the distance and struck out nine in the Mariners' 2-0 triumph on Friday.
