Jared McCann and Mason Appleton each scored twice to lift the visiting Seattle Kraken to a 7-4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.

Defenseman Carson Soucy and forward Brandon Tanev recorded the first two short-handed goals in franchise history for the Kraken, who have won four of their last five games overall.

Jaden Schwartz also tallied and Chris Driedger made 32 saves to help Seattle complete a two-game sweep of Buffalo. The Kraken posted a 5-2 victory over the Sabres on Nov. 4 in Seattle.

Buffalo's Jeff Skinner scored twice to boost his goal total to eight in 22 games this season. He had seven in 53 games in 2020-21.

Dylan Cozens added a score and Brett Murray recorded his first career goal for the Sabres, who have lost 12 of their last 15 games (3-10-2).

Yanni Gourde forced a turnover behind the net before feeding Soucy, who wired a shot from above the circles that sailed past Dustin Tokarski (25 saves) to open the scoring at 5:47 of the first period. Soucy's goal was his third of the season, while Gourde's assist accounted for his 200th NHL point.

Tanev doubled the advantage with 5:20 remaining in the first period. Tanev stole the puck from Rasmus Dahlin at the blue line and fended off the Sabres defenseman before converting his own rebound for his eighth goal of the season.

McCann deposited a loose puck into the net from a sharp angle to give Seattle a 3-0 lead with 56 seconds remaining in the first period.

Murray cleaned up a rebound for his first goal in his sixth career game at 1:53 of the second period. However, McCann converted from the doorstep just over six minutes later to regain the Kraken's three-goal advantage. McCann's goal was his 10th of the season and seventh in his last nine games.

Skinner banked the puck home from behind the net to trim Seattle's lead to 4-2 with a power-play goal at 17:27 of the second period. Appleton answered 42 seconds later following a goal-mouth scramble and added his second of the night into an empty net to conclude the scoring.
