Canucks 4, Kings 1: Radim Vrbata scored during a 5-on-3 power play early in the third period to snap a tie as visiting Vancouver skated to its fifth win in seven games.

In addition to recording his team-leading 27th goal, Vrbata also assisted on Nick Bonino's tally as the Canucks defeated Los Angeles for the first time in four meetings this season. Daniel Sedin and rookie Bo Horvat each scored into an empty net and Eddie Lack turned aside 25 shots for Vancouver, which moved two points ahead of Calgary for second place in the Pacific Division.

Marian Gaborik scored a power-play goal and Anze Kopitar notched an assist for his 600th career point for the Kings, who have dropped two in a row after a 5-1-1 stretch and fell two points behind the Flames for third in the Pacific. Jonathan Quick, who finished with 38 saves, got a bit testy as he was involved in an altercation with Vancouver captain Henrik Sedin late in the second period.

Vancouver's Alex Burrows needed assistance getting off the ice after being cross-checked by Los Angeles' Tyler Toffoli, who received a boarding major and a game misconduct. The Canucks capitalized quickly as defenseman Alex Edler's blast caromed off the end boards right to Vrbata, who converted from a sharp angle along the end line at 4:31 of the third period to provide a 2-1 lead.

Kopitar won an offensive-zone faceoff and defenseman Drew Doughty stickhandled along the blue line before feeding Gaborik, who skated in and wired a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle past Lack 24 seconds into the middle period to open the scoring. Bonino answered 14 1/2 minutes later, tipping a bouncing puck over Quick's glove for his 13th goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tempers flared late in the second period as Henrik Sedin extended his stick toward the puck as Quick was making a save. Sedin's knee grazed Quick in the exchange and the goaltender took issue, causing a melee on the ice. ... Kopitar's 384th assist tied him with Butch Goring for sixth place on the franchise list. ... The division rivals conclude their season series in Vancouver on April 6.
