Ducks 5, Hurricanes 4 (OT): Captain Ryan Getzlaf scored 45 seconds into overtime as host Anaheim erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to stun Carolina.

Getzlaf worked a give-and-go with Corey Perry before beating Anton Khudobin with a one-timer from the slot for his 16th goal and added a pair of assists as the Ducks snapped their two-game slide. Perry halted a five-game scoring drought with two goals - his 20th and 21st, Devante Smith-Pelley tallied for the first time in 21 contests, Ryan Kesler also scored and Frederik Andersen stopped 28 shots for the Ducks, who improved to 7-2-0 in their last nine games.

Brad Malone broke a tie on a penalty shot in the third period and Jordan Staal tallied 1:09 later for the Hurricanes, who failed to score on a pair of 5-on-3 power plays in the session. Alexander Semin and Jay McClement each scored their second goals of the season while Khudobin lost for the first time in eight decisions after making 26 stops as Carolina fell to 7-3-3 in 2015 after starting the season 10-23-4 with its fourth straight loss at Anaheim.

After a scoreless first period, Getzlaf collected a turnover by Staal and fed Perry, who knocked in his own rebound with a nifty backhander 37 seconds into the second period before Semin and McClement scored in a 2:17 span midway through the session. Kesler answered during a power play 2:40 later to tie the game as he deflected defenseman Hampus Lindholm's shot from the point for his 14th goal of the season and second in 14 games.

Malone earned a penalty shot after being hooked from behind by Ducks blue-liner Cam Fowler and beat Anderson high to the glove side with 15:59 to play in the third before Staal converted the rebound of his brother Eric's shot. Smith-Pelley tipped in Jakob Silfverberg's shot from the half-wall with 10:29 left and Perry collected a loose puck during a scramble in front and calmly lifted the puck over Khudobin's right shoulder with 4:08 to go for the 46th multi-goal performance of his career.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Perry, who has recorded seven tallies and six assists in 10 games against Carolina, has scored 20 or more goals in seven of his last eight seasons - tallying 15 during the lockout-shortened 44-game 2012-13 campaign - after scoring 13 and 17 in his first two years. ... Getzlaf snapped a three-game pointless streak. ... The Hurricanes had extinguished 41-of-42 power plays over their previous 17 games before allowing one in four chances versus the Ducks, who are an NHL-best 23-0-6 in one-goal games.
