Lightning 3, Oilers 2: Ondrej Palat scored two goals in the third period, including the go-ahead tally with 8:01 remaining, as Tampa Bay rallied to defeat visiting Edmonton.

Captain Steven Stamkos grabbed a share of the league lead with his 26th goal and fellow All-Star Tyler Johnson added two assists as the Lightning won for the first time in 15 tries this season when trailing after two periods. Ben Bishop turned aside 30 shots for Tampa Bay, which won its sixth straight game at home – all by one goal.

Benoit Pouliot scored both goals to give him six in his last four games for the Oilers, who saw their winless streak on the road stretch to 14 games (0-8-6). All-Star Ryan Nugent-Hopkins contributed two assists and Ben Scrivens made 16 saves for Edmonton, which has not won away from home since Nov. 9.

Palat tied the game at 2-2 just 93 seconds into the third period, finding the rebound of Nikita Kucherov’s shot and flipping it inside the right post. Defenseman Nikita Nesterov kept the puck in at the left point before Johnson slid a pass into the slot for Palat, who whipped a shot over Scrivens’ blocker for the winner.

Pouliot chipped in the rebound of Nugent-Hopkins’ shot while short-handed 13:52 into the game, but Stamkos beat Scrivens on the short side from the right faceoff circle 7:10 into the second session. The Oilers, who had an 18-10 advantage in shots over the first 40 minutes, took the lead when Pouliot’s rebound attempt pinballed in during a power play with 57.3 seconds left in the period.
