Blackhawks 3, Bruins 2: Former Boston College standout Ben Smith collected a goal and an assist while rookie Scott Darling finished with 32 saves as visiting Chicago skated to its eighth straight victory.

Patrick Kane scored his team-leading 13th goal and defenseman Klas Dahlbeck tallied for his first career point with the Blackhawks, who have won 11 of 12 overall and improved to 9-3-0 against Eastern Conference representatives. The victory notwithstanding, Chicago saw captain Jonathan Toews exit the contest midway into the second period with an upper-body injury after being drilled into the boards by Boston defenseman Dennis Seidenberg.

Reilly Smith and defenseman Torey Krug scored for the Bruins, who have dropped six of their last eight (2-5-1). Captain Zdeno Chara logged 24:11 of ice time in his return after missing 19 games with a knee injury.

Ben Smith gained control behind the net before feeding a pinching Dahlbeck, whose shot from the left faceoff circle sailed over the glove of Tuukka Rask (18 saves) 9:10 into the first period to open the scoring. Chicago doubled the advantage at 18:43 as Daniel Carcillo's sharp-angle shot produced a rebound that Ben Smith tapped home for his third goal of the season.

Kane settled a loose puck from below the end line and wristed a shot into the net with 6:41 remaining in the second period to give Chicago a 3-0 lead. Reilly Smith one-timed Brad Marchand's carom off the side of the net late in the session and Krug converted from the slot with 7:43 remaining in the third, but Darling closed the door to record his fourth straight victory and improve to 5-1-0 in his career.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago C Marcus Kruger notched two assists and has four points in four games. ... The Blackhawks failed on all four power-play opportunities to drop to 1-for-24 in their last seven games, but they killed off both short-handed situations to improve to 23-for-24 in their last eight contests. ... Boston C David Krejci missed his ninth straight game due to a lower-body injury.
