Jets 2, Sabres 1: Ondrej Pavelec ended a prolonged slump with a 19-save performance as Winnipeg edged host Buffalo.

Pavelec wasn't busy but was sharp when he needed to be as he halted a personal five-game losing streak. Bryan Little scored a first-period power-play goal and Michael Frolik added a short-handed tally in the middle session for the Jets, who have won the first two contests of their three-game Eastern Conference road trip.

Chris Stewart netted the lone goal for Buffalo, which saw its season-high three-game winning streak come to an end. Jhonas Enroth turned aside 24 shots.

One night after opening the scoring nine seconds into the game, Little was at it again. The veteran center gathered a pass from defenseman Jacob Trouba in the right faceoff circle before waiting out Enroth and burying a low shot at 3:41.

Frolik doubled the advantage with 5:40 remaining in the second period, stripping Buffalo defenseman Andre Benoit of the puck deep in the Sabres' zone before cutting in front and lifting a backhand shot past Enroth. Stewart ended Pavelec's shutout bid at 5:30 of the third, when he broke in alone and swept a low backhander past the sliding netminder.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Winnipeg has won eight of the last nine meetings between the clubs dating to January 2012. ... The Jets have posted eight straight wins against teams with losing records. ... The Sabres went 0-for-4 with the man advantage, dropping to 4-for-64 on the season.
