Kings 3, Hurricanes 2: Tanner Pearson scored early in the second period to snap a tie and end an 11-game goal drought as host Los Angeles skated to its third win in a row.

Jarret Stoll netted a power-play goal and Trevor Lewis also tallied for the Kings, who learned that defenseman Slava Voynov was charged with a felony count of domestic violence prior to the game. Captain Dustin Brown notched an assist for his 200th career point and and Jonathan Quick finished with 25 saves.

Captain Eric Staal recorded his 700th career point with a power-play tally and Jeff Skinner collected a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes, who have dropped nine of 11 road contests this season (2-7-2). Cam Ward turned aside 36 shots to fall to 3-1-2 in his career versus Los Angeles.

After Staal forged a 2-2 tie, the Kings responded in short order despite Ward denying Mike Richards' bid from the left doorstep. The puck sailed off Ward's pads and into the air where Pearson batted it home from the right doorstep at 2:59 of the second period for his first goal since he netted a pair versus Columbus on Oct. 26.

Stoll deposited Brown's centering feed over the glove of Ward to open the scoring 7:53 into the first before Skinner netted his fifth with 2:44 left in the period. The teams traded quick goals in the second as Lewis backhanded the puck home from in front just 37 seconds into the session before Staal converted at the right post under two minutes later.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Voynov was charged with one count of corporal injury to a spouse with great bodily injury by the Los Angeles County District Attorney office. Voynov, who was arrested on Oct. 20, faces a possible maximum sentence of nine years in state prison if convicted as charged. ...
