Bruins 2, Blues 0: Tuukka Rask made 33 saves as Boston extended its home winning streak to six games by cooling off red-hot St. Louis.

Patrice Bergeron scored an unassisted goal and defenseman Torey Krug also tallied as the Bruins halted the Blues' three-game winning streak and beat St. Louis in Boston for the first time since January 2001. Rask turned aside 15 shots over the final 20 minutes to preserve his first shutout of the season.

Brian Elliott made 15 saves for the Blues, who had won their previous six visits to Boston. St. Louis absorbed only its second defeat in 12 games (10-2-0) and first shutout loss since Oct. 19.

Blues defenseman Ian Cole had a hand in each of Boston's first two goals. After Elliott left a puck behind the net for Cole, the blue-liner tapped it right to an onrushing Bergeron, who buried a shot from the bottom of the right circle into an open net 5:45 into the contest.

St. Louis dominated play early in the second but the Bruins doubled the lead with 8 1/2 minutes left in the period as Krug's wrister from the top of the left circle clipped the thigh of Cole and found the far right corner. The Blues swarmed Boston's end in the third but were unable to dent Rask, who improved to 2-0-3 against St. Louis.

NOTEBOOK: Boston had a goal waved off with nine seconds left in the second period due to incidental contact when the puck went off a sliding LW Matt Fraser's body and into the net as he collided with Elliott in the crease. ... Blues C Jori Lehtera, named the league's First Star of the week on Monday, had his seven-game point streak snapped while linemate Jaden Schwartz had his six-game string halted. ... Bruins C David Krejci returned to the lineup after a four-game absence but F Brad Marchand sat out with an undisclosed injury and D Adam McQuaid exited after blocking a shot in the second period.
