Kings 5, Canucks 1: Tyler Toffoli scored a goal and set up two others as host Los Angeles rolled past Vancouver.

Marian Gaborik, defenseman Jake Muzzin, Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter each recorded a goal and an assist for the Kings, who registered more than two goals for just the third time in 11 games. Blueliner Alec Martinez collected three assists and Jonathan Quick turned aside 18 shots.

Chris Higgins scored for the Canucks, who fell to 2-1-0 on their four-game road trip. Ryan Miller allowed four goals on 22 shots before being replaced by Eddie Lack, who made 13 saves in the third period.

Los Angeles began its string of five straight goals 9:43 into the contest as Gaborik chipped a backhander into the net from the doorstep for his first of the season. Muzzin ripped the puck past Miller from the right point 4:59 later and Kopitar chased down a pass and beat the netminder from a sharp angle at the bottom of the left faceoff circle with 1:49 left in the first period to make it 3-0.

Toffoli extended the lead midway through the second by backhanding a rebound past Miller from the doorstep and Carter beat Lack on a short breakaway 2:29 into the third for a five-goal advantage. Higgins ruined Quick's bid for his third shutout of the season with 7:53 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Due to financial restraints, Los Angeles played with only five defensemen as it has no salary-cap room to add a player at the moment. The Kings dressed 13 forwards, with RW Justin Williams returning from a one-game absence due to an eye injury. ... Canucks RWs Radim Vrbata and Derek Dorsett each played only one shift in the third period due to undisclosed injuries. ... Los Angeles has won all four home meetings with Vancouver since the start of last season, outscoring the Canucks 14-3 in the process.
