Rangers 4, Red Wings 3 (OT): Derick Brassard scored a power-play goal 1:50 into overtime as New York skated to its fifth consecutive victory versus Detroit.

The Red Wings forged a tie with 7.7 seconds remaining in the third period as rookie Andrej Nestrasil's circle-to-circle pass found Tomas Tatar, who one-timed a shot past a sliding Henrik Lundqvist (25 saves). Pavel Datsyuk was whistled for tripping 46 seconds into overtime and the Rangers made him pay as defenseman Dan Girardi's blast from the point handcuffed Jonas Gustavsson, and Brassard raced in from the right faceoff circle to tap home the loose puck.

Rick Nash netted his Eastern Conference-leading 10th goal and Martin St. Louis added his third tally in two contests - as well as an assist - for New York, which ended its two-game winless streak (0-0-2) and emerged victorious in coach Alain Vigneault's 900th NHL game. Lee Stempniak also scored, defenseman Matt Hunwick set up a pair of goals and Brassard notched his 150th career assist.

Defenseman Jakub Kindl, who also had an assist, scored a power-play goal and Daniel Cleary tallied 13 seconds later in the second period while making his season debut. Gustavsson turned aside 26 shots in his first start since Oct. 25 for the Red Wings, who finished their three-game road trip with an 0-1-2 mark.

Detroit erased New York's two-goal lead in short order as Kindl's wrist shot from the right circle sailed between the pads of Lundqvist at 12:02 of the second before Cleary scored from a sharp angle - although play continued until video review confirmed that the puck squeezed inside the left post. The game remained tied until Dominic Moore skated in on a 2-on-1 rush and fed Stempniak, who beat a lunging Gustavsson over his glove to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Detroit received a penalty shot at 5:51 of the second period after New York D Kevin Klein was whistled for placing his hand over the puck while in the crease. Red Wings C Gustav Nyquist was unsuccessful in his bid as his wrist shot was thwarted by the left arm of Lundqvist. ... With his team on the power play, Brassard unleashed a blast from above the left circle that deflected off the backside of Nash and past Gustavsson at 6:36 of the first period to open the scoring. St. Louis accepted Hunwick's stretch pass before wristing a shot between the pads of Gustavsson at 6:39 of the second to double the advantage. ... New York LW Mats Zuccarello (undisclosed) and Klein (left foot) returned to the lineup after both sat out Monday's game versus St. Louis. ... Gustavsson injured his left shoulder on the game-winning goal and will "probably be out a bit," according to Detroit coach Mike Babcock.
