Penguins 3, Rangers 0: Defenseman Kris Letang scored one goal and set up two others as host Pittsburgh evened its Eastern Conference second-round series against New York at one game apiece.

Evgeni Malkin notched an empty-net tally and an assist while Jussi Jokinen converted a power-play opportunity for the Penguins, who travel to New York for Game 3 on Monday. Marc-Andre Fleury made 10 of his 22 saves in the second period as he posted his franchise-record seventh career postseason shutout.

Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 32 shots for the Rangers, whose NHL-record losing streak when holding a series lead reached 13 games.

After a scoreless first period, Pittsburgh broke through midway through the second on a play that wasn't executed as planned. Letang made a pass that was intended for a streaking Chris Kunitz on the doorstep, but the puck deflected off New York defenseman Dan Girardi's stick and past Lundqvist.

The Penguins added insurance late in the third, making the Rangers pay for Derek Dorsett's ill-advised boarding penalty. Lundqvist stopped James Neal's shot from the outer edge of the left faceoff circle, but Jokinen buried the rebound from the bottom of the right circle for a back-breaking power-play goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Letang's goal was the 15th of his playoff career, tying him with Larry Murphy for the franchise lead among defensemen. ... Pittsburgh C Brian Gibbons returned to the lineup after missing five games with an undisclosed injury. The 26-year-old last played in Game 2 of the first-round series versus Columbus, when he scored a pair of goals in a 4-3 double-overtime loss. ... New York went 0-for-4 on the power play and has failed on its last 29 opportunities. The Rangers are 3-for-37 overall in the postseason. ... Jokinen's tally extended his point streak to six games, but Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby's goal-scoring drought in the playoffs was extended to 13 contests.
