Kings 4, Oilers 2: Jeff Carter scored twice to increase his team-leading goal total and added an assist as visiting Los Angeles skated to its season-high seventh consecutive victory.

Defenseman Alec Martinez netted his career-best seventh tally and Trevor Lewis also scored for the Kings, who have won five straight versus the Oilers and improved to 9-0-2 in their last 11 visits. Jonathan Quick turned aside 25 shots to up his mark to 7-0-2 all-time at Edmonton.

Former King Ben Scrivens finished with 46 saves while Taylor Hall and Sam Gagner each scored and set up a goal for the Oilers, who were thwarted in their bid for a season high-tying third straight victory.

Carter opened the scoring 96 seconds into the contest, when his attempted centering feed caromed off the skate of Edmonton defenseman Philip Larsen and into the net. The Oilers answered nearly six minutes later as Hall capped a pretty passing sequence with his team-leading 22nd goal, but Martinez's shot from the point beat Scrivens at 8:49 of the second to put Los Angeles ahead to stay.

The Kings seized a 3-1 lead just 87 seconds later while on the power play, as Anze Kopitar's wrist shot from the right faceoff circle banked off Carter's right skate and into the net for the latter's 24th goal. Edmonton captain Andrew Ference committed a turnover 5 1/2 minutes afterward and Lewis redirected Carter's centering feed past Scrivens.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Scrivens was facing his former team for the first time since being traded from Los Angeles on Jan. 15 for a third-round pick in the 2014 draft. ... Martinez has collected three goals and one assist during his four-game point streak. ... The Kings yielded their third 4-on-4 goal this season at 2:05 of the third period, when Gagner banked the puck off Los Angeles D Drew Doughty's skate and into the net.
