Kings 2, Flames 0: Captain Dustin Brown recorded a goal and an assist while fellow United States Olympian Jonathan Quick made 25 saves as visiting Los Angeles defeated Calgary for the first time in three tries this season.

Dwight King also scored for the Kings, who had dropped a pair of one-goal decisions to the Flames at home. Quick did the bulk of his work in the second period, turning aside 15 shots as he went on to post his 29th career shutout.

Joni Ortio stopped 22 shots in his NHL debut for the Flames, who have dropped two straight contests after winning six of their previous seven.

Los Angeles gave Quick all the offensive support he needed just three minutes into the contest. Brown pounced on a turnover by Calgary defenseman Kris Russell in the right faceoff circle and carried the puck to the net before backhanding it past Ortio for his first goal since Jan. 13.

King provided insurance at 3:30 of the third, converting a backhand pass from behind the net by Brown while standing on the doorstep. Quick faced only two shots in the session as he registered his fourth shutout of the season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brown has collected a goal and two assists in his last two road games after recording just one point in his first 29 away from home. ... Flames C Markus Granlund registered two shots on goal over 7:14 of ice time in his first NHL contest. ... Los Angeles has recorded 10 shutouts this season, one shy of the franchise record set in 2011-12.
