Rangers 4, Penguins 3 (SO): Brad Richards scored the decisive goal in the third round of the shootout as visiting New York posted its fifth win in six outings.

After Mats Zuccarello and Evgeni Malkin scored in the second and third rounds, respectively, Richards ended the contest in style. The veteran breezed in and wristed a shot that glanced off the crossbar and into the net as the Rangers handed the Penguins just their second home loss in their last 18 games.

Benoit Pouliot recorded his sixth career two-goal performance and defenseman Dan Girardi tallied for the first time since New Year's Eve and added an assist. Henrik Lundqvist finished with 26 saves while making two stops in the bonus format to snap Pittsburgh's run of nine straight shootout victories dating to last season.

Malkin scored his fourth goal in five contests, James Neal tallied for the third straight game and defenseman Olli Maatta also found the back of the net for the Penguins. Captain Sidney Crosby notched his NHL-leading 50th assist and Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 38 shots for Pittsburgh, which announced on Friday that stud defenseman Kris Letang will miss at least six weeks after suffering a stroke.

After the teams traded goals in each of the first two periods, New York seized a 3-2 lead at 9:24 of the third as Pouliot converted the carom of Girardi's point shot off the end boards. Neal scored his 20th goal to forge a tie with 2:56 remaining after beating Lundqvist inside the left post.
