Canadiens 2, Flames 0:
Carey Price stopped 27 shots for his 23rd career shutout as host Montreal halted Calgary’s five-game winning streak.

Rene Bourque scored and David Desharnais added an empty-netter for the Canadiens, who defeated the Flames for the first time in five meetings. Price turned aside four shots in the first period, 15 in the second and eight in the third for his fourth shutout on the season and second in four starts.

Reto Berra made 25 saves for Calgary, which was blanked for the seventh time. The Flames had a full two minutes of 5-on-3 play early in the second period but managed just two shots with the advantage.

Bourque was credited with a goal when the rebound from Brandon Prust’s shot deflected off his shin at the edge of the crease with 3:45 remaining in the second period. It was the first tally in seven games for the former Calgary player, who has been the subject of rumors as the trade deadline approaches.

Price stood tall with Calgary pressing for a tying goal late in the third period, blocking many quick attempts including a point shot through traffic from defenseman Dennis Wideman with the Flames pressing in the final minutes. Montreal iced the puck three straight times in the final minute before Mike Cammalleri was called for hooking with 30 seconds remaining, setting the stage for Desharnais’ empty-net goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cammalleri made his first visit to Montreal two years after he was traded to the Flames for Bourque in the middle of a game. Cammalleri - also the subject of trade rumors - finished with three shots in 18:52 of ice time. … Montreal F Dale Weise played 12:45 in his Canadiens' debut, recording three shots and three hits. … Calgary captain Mark Giordano saw his nine-game point streak - third-longest by a Flames defenseman - come to an end.
