Blues 3, Devils 0: Jaroslav Halak turned aside all 23 shots he faced and Alex Steen scored his team-leading 27th goal - and 150th career - as host St. Louis avenged last week's embarrassing loss to New Jersey.

Brenden Morrow recorded a power-play goal and Maxim Lapierre added an empty-net tally for the Blues, who have won three straight following their 7-1 setback to the Devils. New Jersey has dropped two in a row and four of its last six (2-3-1).

After yielding four goals on 14 shots in a relief role last week against the Devils, Halak was not going to be denied his 29th career shutout and fourth this season.

Steen gave Halak all the offense he needed at 3:25 of the first period, wiring a shot from the slot that deflected off New Jersey defenseman Anton Volchenkov and under the crossbar for his 100th goal as a member of the Blues.

With Devils captain Bryce Salvador serving a tripping penalty, St. Louis defenseman Jay Bouwmeester settled the puck and unleashed a shot from the point that Morrow deftly deflected past Cory Schneider (22 saves) midway through the third to double the lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Steen, who has three goals and four assists in his last five games, has scored five times in his last six meetings with New Jersey. ... St. Louis improved to 17-3-1 against Eastern Conference opponents this season. ... Blues C Patrik Berglund notched two assists. ... NFL Hall-of-Famer Dan Dierdorf was in attendance at Scottrade Center.
